When I read the poem “The Tide Rises The Tide Falls” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, I was interested in finding out if the author’s personal life was involved when writing this. While reading this poem I enjoyed the variation of imagery presented. I struggled a little bit with why Longfellow kept repeating the idea of how the tide rises and the tide falls but it made me realize how he is explaining that life is a cycle. After analyzing this poem I believe that Longfellow’s poem “The Tide Rises The Tide Falls” demonstrates how life is a cycle that keeps recurring and that time won’t stop for you no matter what happens.
