Even though there are many stories and dates of creation, we believe the Bible as the truth. And even though God didn’t give us an exact date, He gave us ways to get close to the real date. We believe God told us exactly what we needed to know, and no
Before Judaism, most religions worshipped many Gods, spirits, animals, or dead ancestors. The Torah tells the history of the Jews from Gods creation of the world to the death of Moses, a prophet who led his people out of slavery in ancient Egypt. Jewish history has been marked by persecution and exile. God often revealed wisdom to prophets, wisdom, which was in verbal form, has become known as sacred scripture. Unlike Judaism, Muslims believe that the last of the prophets was Muhammad.

Who was He, where did He come from and what was his purpose? In short, Melchizedek was the Old Testament Jesus. You heard correctly, Jesus was not only around in the Old Testament as a human in spirit form appearing to many people as God, but He was also incarnate in the Old Testament before He was incarnate in the New Testament. Jesus has been incarnate TWICE!

The Popul Vuh is a creation story written by the Quiche peoples of Guatemala translated by Christian missionaries. To the casual observer, one may see obvious parallels to the Jewish and Christian Books due to the influences of the conquistadors over the region, exemplifying the interaction and integration of beliefs between two extraordinarily different cultures (Norton 520). Such elements of interest included a rather more mythical version of the creation of Earth, where the thought of soil, water, and animals were brought into existence. In addition, the trials the Heart-of-Sky encountered in creating a being to worship him as well as the imagery accompanying each attempt had strengthened the mythical impression of this story of creation
Though Arthurian legend played a prominent role in Lewis’ Narnia book, Lewis was influenced by Dante as well. The story and style of Purgatorio and Paradiso impacted the story and style of Voyage of the Dawn Treader; however, the main connection between Dante and Lewis is their dealings with biblical material and concepts (Daigle 41). Like Dante, Lewis draws from the Bible to aid in his novel’s plot. Both he and Dante take a typological approach to their narratives (Daigle 42). “The major events of salvation history become the norm for all events, the standard by which all events are interpreted and to which they all conform” (Daigle 42).
The Old Testament is the founding document which consists of the history, origin, and civilization of Gods people Israel. It has been and continues to be a sacred scripture for both Jews and Christians and plays an increasingly influential role on their beliefs, practices, art and literature. The Jews consider the Tanak to be the Bible, also referred to as the Hebrew Bible by scholars, while Christians prefer to use the term Old Testament. Jews and Protestants agree on the content of the Tanak and the Old Testament but they arrange that content differently. The Hebrew Bible is not only referred to as the TaNaKh, an acronym made up of the Hebrew letters of words Torah, Nevi’im and Ketuvim that was first assembled and conserved as the divine
The similarities between religions can vary, sometimes they’re no differences at all. When it comes to the stories of the Iroquois and Judeo-Christian, the differences are great. To begin with, looking at Judeo-Christian, the earth was created by a powerful spiritual being who decided to create it one day. God created the Earth, and everything with it. Including the oceans, skies, land and even the first humans to walk the Earth.
Today we have two stories, both based on same topic; Creation of earth. One is called the Iroquois story of creation, which is about the woman that fell from the sky. Then we have the Genesis Creation story which is about how god created the earth.
The judeo-Christian story is very well known creation story. The Christian religion is very familiar to this story. The other story is called Iroquois creation this is a Native American story of how the Earth came to a beginning. There is many similarities and differences in this story. One of the differences is that in the Christian story the Earth was made by God.
In David Cusick’s version of “The Iroquois Creation Story,” it begins by there being two worlds-an upper and a lower. The upper world contained humans while the “lower world was in great darkness; -the possession of the great monster” (pg. 23). In the upper world a woman conceives twins and falls towards the lower world. The creatures of the lower world gathered together in the spot where she would land. The only creature that would be able to hold the women was the large turtle with the Earth on his shell.
Over 4,000 years ago the Iroquois tribes began to inhabit North America (“The Iroquois Tribes”). Just as every other community that inhabited the earth, the Iroquois had elaborate stories and myths of how different phenomenon occurred. Their creation myth tells of how the earth came about and how the stars, moon, sun, rivers, and plants came along. The Iroquois tell their creation myth using the earth-diver archetype.
