Books have certain details that are edited out or reshaped in the movie versions.Variations between the book and the movie may seem easy for the readers to find these elements. There are three main differences between the book and the movie Of Mice and Men which include setting locations, characters, and ending scenes. There are many differences to the book but one of the main ones is the setting. There are so many differences to the setting for example in the movie they are out in the fields half of the time and in the book they are in the bunkhouse. As well as at the end of the book when George kills Lennie they are beside the water as the author says “Lennie removed his hat dutifully and laid it on the ground in front of him” (Steinbeck 105). But in the movie they are in the water when he kills Lennie. Finally in the movie the bus driver just leaves them on the side of the road to walk when in the book they are dropped off and the reader never hears about the driver again. First, Lennie is very different, in the movie he is a average sized guy but in the book he is described much bigger, he is described “a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes” (Steinbeck 2). In the book Slim is described with long, black hair, but in the movie he has very short black hair. Finally there is Candy’s dog. Now this dog is not a big character but there are still differences. This dog in the book is portrayed so old he is skin and bones grey hair type dog but in the movie he looks like he is five years old, he is not that much different than a regular dog. Now there is a lot of differences but the biggest set of differences is the ending
