In the third chapter Candy a swamper who was eais dropping hears in on their dream , Cady offers to help with their dream because he has half the money that they need george and lennie agree to this and the begin working so they they can each put in 50 dollars to buy the property. But as lennie is mourning the loss of his puppy Curley 's wife wanders in and starts talking to lennie. Lennie , white petting Curley 's wife 's hair Accidently breaks her neck running and chance that they will have at a normal life. Although it may appear that curley 's wife is to blame. The first reason that it wasn 't her fault is that Lennie was the one who killed her , he killed her Because he didn 't listen to George . He may have done it on accident but it was still his fault therefore he is partially to blame for ruining the dream. This is lennie 's fault as he let Curley 's wife flirtatious attitude get to him. It is an ongoing thing for Lennie to put them in situations that George has to fix every time. Dreams are just conceptions of our mind for longing for more out of our selves. The problem of trying to process or make these dreams happen is the fact that we feel that these dreams will become burden upon not just our body, but our mind as well. For many this may be true, but in the case of George Smalls, this is not the case. George’s Dream or main goal is to be able to care of Lennie. This one dream has influenced most of his choices and has actual become a part of him.

The death of Curley’s wife is a very shocking event which is what triggers George’s decision to shoot Lennie.
