When the author or director decides to emphasize a certain phrase or even something as small as the smell of a certain object it works as a sort of code that infiltrates the mind of the reader/viewer. This causes the reader/viewer to start drawing conclusions as more and more objects of the equation are provided to them by the creator of the story. In the two stories that we are given for analyses there is a large difference in their presentation: the first one, “It Had To Be Murder” is a written text, and the second one, “Rear Window” is a film.
