The Presidency: Presidential Power and President Expanded
The President is not only the face of the country but also the leader that will paint the bright future for the country through wise plans; it can be said that President is an important role in the government system and they have the power to control the country. However, they cannot take advantage of their authority but have to lead the country to a better future. Every Presidential term lasts four years and during this time, their power is always possible in all aspects. There are five roles of a Presidents in the United States including the first role is Chief of State, the second one is Chief Executive, the third one is Commander-in-Chief, the fourth one is Chief Diplomat, and the last one is Chief Legislator. Chief of State and Chief Executive were born under the establishment of the Constitution. These two roles give the President the power to protect three pillars of the Constitution included Popular Sovereignty, Rule of Law, and Tolerance. Kennedy had their own specific fulfillment on this role. For example, in “Executive Order 10730”, President Eisenhower called upon the help of the federal army since Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas was encountering the desegregation issue. Eisenhower hoped the State could help the school escaping from threatening of this issue through the security of the army. Different from Eisenhower, in “Executive Order 10924", President Kennedy used this role to introduce the United States to the whole world as well as harmonize various cultures of different countries with each other by establishing the "Peace Corps".
