Omens are symbol which are presented to warn/ forsee either an event on the querent’s horizon. Omens can be presented as either a glyph or a portent. According to the lesson notes, a glyph is an ‘abstract symbol’, often more difficult to rely on due to the fact that two different diviners may not view the symbol in the same way- or possibly see it at all. In comparison, a portent is the observation of an occurrence in nature which is more reliable. The following are some common Omens which are presented in Divinatory situations.
The Knot- also known as Triquetra and The Endless Knot. The Knot is an interweaved pattern with three corners. This pattern repeats itself, allowing the symbol to be the identical from each angle. The Knot is typically

As rainbows in their natural existence have seven colours, they are considered magical in their own circumstance. Amateur diviners have been known to mistake the fracturing of light through a crystal ball for a presentation of the Rainbow Glyph. Usually, Rainbows are found within the realms of Crystallomancy , though the Rainbow is also found in nature in its glyph form and naturally occurring Rainbows have caused many individuals to attempt to ‘follow’ the rainbow until its end in order to collect the supposed treasure. The Rainbow is considered to be a good omen, suggesting luck and good fortune for those who perceive it.
The Omen known as the Evil Eye presents itself as an eye staring directly at the diviner. The Evil Eye is known to be one of the most recognisable and oldest omens. The Evil Eye can present itself as a Portent by humans, which is in fact a rare example of a portent being produced in natural form by a human though it cannot be created ‘at will’. The Evil Eye can also be witnessed in Glyph form. If seen, The Evil Eye is considered to be a very bad omen . It suggests an immediate future of extreme bad luck and

After reading the novel Twisted, written by Laurie Halse Anderson, I have become more aware of how different emotions and attitudes that people have can positively or negatively affect how they’re viewed by society. Furthermore, an individual’s attitudes and actions can also change their perspective of the world and the quality of their life. Early on in the book, we are introduced to the main character Tyler, who is an emotional, unpopular, and insecure seventeen year old senior who is hoping for things to change. Throughout the story, we follow his emotional rollercoaster filled with his thrilling highs and devastating lows. After researching astrology signs and their true meanings about specific traits, I have decided that Tyler fits within the Cancer symbol.
Now let me instruct you. We cannot look to superstition in this. The Devil is precise; the marks
Evil is a label seldom used, unless it is a truly unspeakable act. There are many things that symbolize something evil. Whether a person or an act, symbols can tell us a lot about the story. While some symbols have dual meanings and can be left to interpretation with the story line, others are definitive in what they stand for.
The constellation I have chosen for this assignment is Leo Major. I 've chosen it mostly because of previous studies I have done on it. Leo, being one of twelve zodiacs, is located in between Cancer (to the west) and Virgo (to the east). Its name originates from the Latin root for "lion". The ancient Greeks represented it as the Nemean lion that was killed by Hercules as on of his "twelve labors".
Stars; these seem to be very important figures in the story of Romeo and Juliet, a lyric poem, story and play, written by William Shakespeare. It supposedly relates to fate and is talked about repeatedly throughout the story. I look at the stars way up high and see them in their "predetermined" locations. They 're metaphorical because of how easy it is to compare stars and fate. I notice Shakespeare 's intentions when comparing destiny and the stars.
Although this is an accurate description of the logo if taken in a literal sense, there is a concealed meaning behind this word choice. Just before the use of “rainbow”, Anna Mae says she felt “bowed
Othello believes Iago to be as evil as the devil, expecting to see hoofs of a goat, symbolic of the devil, when he looks at Iago’s feet. This devil imagery is used to emphasize Iago’s evil nature. With his plan to destroy Othello being revealed to the other characters, he is now seen as an incarnation of the devil, because of the tremendous amount of pain Iago caused Othello, having purposefully orchestrated it for his own self interest. Thus, by taking
The Devil is precise; the marks of his presence are definite as stone, and I must tell you all that I shall not
Section #8 In the novel Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, there are mythological, biblical, and literary allusions that relate to the character Mr.Dark. The mythological allusion "Medusa" relates to Mr.Dark's petrifying gaze that he gave to Charles Halloway as seen in "Medusa gaze" "of Mr.Dark" and "swiftly reckoned with." (Bradbury,245) The author does this by creating a scene where Mr.Dark is being played by Charles Halloway into getting the boys free from a spell by patronizing him with his plan to kill the Dust Witch and shows Mr.Dark's reaction that is,giving him a terror-striking look.

Within the novel “Chronicle of a Death Foretold” the author uses specific symbols throughout the book to get certain points across. He uses symbolism through the setting of the book so we are able to read between the lines. The weather and specific objects in nature are two symbolic representations used consistently throughout the novel. Other forms of symbols can include the way he uses character names, senses, and animals. The author chooses to use all of these at specific points in the book to make our attention really drawn to key factors in the novel.
Not many scientists are certain when the Assyrian Astrology began, but many suspect it was around the years B.C. in 612 B.C. The zodiac circle is one of the oldest and most used forms of astrology. The idea conceived by the Assyrians in order to have the zodiac circle was based off of two different Greek traditions. The first tradition consisted of the 12 signs of zodiac, animal constellations also dwelt in the tradition. This tradition was built up throughout the years 3,200-500 BC and it was made into a religious tradition in Mesopotamia.
