When incorporating theme in a piece of literature, it gives the piece an overall message for the viewers to take away. An example of a theme that is commonly found in literature and even the world is racism. Racism has been an issue for centuries and will continue to be an issue due to the ignorant people of the world. Two pieces that show the theme of racism and how racism is still a problem occurring today is Trouble in Mind by Alice Childress and “A Worn Path” by Eudora Welty. The play Trouble in Mind centers around a group of people both African American and white performing a play within this play.
