The Live Aid campaign raised more than $100 million to fight famine in Ethiopia. However, the military government that ruled the country used the donations to fund the forceful resettlement of 600,000 people from the North of the country. They argued that this would solve the drought in the North of the country. Victims of the famine were separated from their families and rounded up into concentration camps, where they suffered from harsh conditions. Tens of thousands died from malaria, starvation, and mass murder by the military.
A big social problem today is animal abuse and the fact that they are mistreated daily. Not many people realize exactly what some animals go through on the daily. Everything is hidden behind the companies walls and it needs to be brought to more of society’s attention. Just because we don’t know about everything that goes on, doesn’t mean it is all good. “Nothing living should ever be treated with contempt, whatever it is that lives, a man, a tree, or a bird, because the time is short.
Anatole France once said “Until one has loved an animal a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” Animals have been slowly losing their independence for decades. It all started when the pilgrims came to the Americas from other countries. Animals were forced to leave their homes in order for the newcomers to have a place to live. Humans have completely taken over the places where animals used to roam freely. Animals do not have rights due to the lack of human knowledge, facilities such as zoos and the use of animals research.
First of all, animals being not feed right is just inhumane. Why keep them starving ? Some animal owners don’t feed their animals, some because they think that they don’t deserve it either because they misbehaved during the day or others because they work all day and don’t have time to feed their pets when they get home. Some of the general features, characteristics and consequences of internal conflicts - wars waged after the World War II are: (a) millions of victims, especially among the civilian population; (B) a high level of brutality and cruelty; (C) genocide; (D) ethnic cleansing; (E) the mass of refugees; (F) an extremely difficult humanitarian disposal of innocent victims, etc. The largest number of victims in internal conflicts occurred in Rwanda in 1994. Officials of the UN Secretariat had failed to submit to the Security Council a timely warning of extremist plans to kill thousands of members of the Tutsi and moderate members of the Hutu tribe. When the genocide began, the number of "blue helmets", who were engaged in that country, was reduced to only 270 people, and the UN and the Security Council, due to pressure from the USA, failed to respond. The result was about 1,000,000
Syrian refugees are citizens and permanent occupants of Syria who have fled or escaped the country since the onset of the Syrian Civil War in 2011 until today. The Syrian war is the most noticeably humanitarian emergency ever. Half of the nation's prewar population, which is more than 11 million individuals. The Syrian Civil war is a war between the long-serving government and those looking to change it. The Assad family have had the force in Syria following the time 1971.
This is because it is the newest Nation in the world which got its independence in 2011. South Sudan has been at war for over 3 years with fighting taking place between the President Salva Kiir and his deputy Riek Machar. South Sudan’s civil war, which began in December 2013, continued in 2015 with serious abuses of civilians by both warring parties. Killings, rape, and destruction and pillage of civilian property were widespread, especially during a massive government offensive in a Unity state that began in mid-2015. A tenuous peace agreement signed in late August raised hopes of an end to the fighting, which has displaced some 2.2 million people from their homes and plunged much of the population into humanitarian crisis.
Zoos have been a major concern for years and animal rights activists are not giving up on the poor imprisoned animals. The aim of this report is to show how animals in captivity do not have enough space to function normally and how they get sick has a result. In the zoo industry breeding is very looked down upon. Zoos have taken the initiative of breeding animals and trying to repopulate some of the species this is very wrong and must be ended immediately. Also more effort must be put in to save the surplus animals in zoos because they are getting killed off.
The UN calculated the amount of money needed to help the Syrian refugees and it’s a staggering 7.7 million dollars. But what are they running from? Why are they so afraid of staying where they are? The answer is simple really. It’s because Syria is now a battlefield, there’s a civil war that killed nearly 220k people (most of them are civilians), Russia is bombing Syria because of the potential
