Compare and contrast between George W. Bush and Barack Obama
George W Bush and Barack Obama have multiple differences and similarities in their presidency.
They do their Economic policy, Foreign policy , and Domestic policy different but they are still so parallels to one another. George Walker Bush was born in New Haven , CT. He went to Yale and Harvard to get his Bachelor degree in history. During this time he was a cheerleader and a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon. He has two kids with his wife Laura Welch. Their kids names are Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush. Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu ,HI. He went to the University of Columbia and Harvard to get a J.D in law. He is

events during each presidency . During George W Bush presidency there were four terrorist attacks, by the Islamic group Al-Qaeda, against the United States on Tuesday morning September 11, 2001 which was known as “9/11”. After the attack Bush gave a speech in response to the attack explaining how the U.S. was outraged. Another event in Bush’s presidency was his trillion dollar tax cuts. In 2001, he authorized a tax cut called the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 (EGTRRA). This stimulated the economy during the 2001 recession. It saved taxpayers but increased the debt by $1.35 trillion over a 10-year period. During Barack Obama’s presidency there was a shooting during a constituent meeting in a supermarket parking lot in Casas Adobes, Arizona where U.S Representative Gabrielle Giffords and eighteen other people were shot. Six people including District Judge John Roll died. Another major event that happened under Obama was the Budget Control act of 2011. The act cut $487 billion from projected defense spending over the next few years. The act also paved the way for sequestration, which would slash an additional $495 billion from the defense budget, for an overall total of almost $1 trillion in …show more content…
Both presidents spent more money on defense then administration since WWII. Bush launched the Iraq and Afghanistan wars in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The War on Terror cost more than $1.5 trillion over its lifetime. Obama cut back both wars. He relied on military intelligence and technology to get Osama bin Laden. They also used expansionary fiscal policy to combat recessions by stimulating economic growth. Bush fought the 2001 recession with tax cuts. He designed the first tax rebate, the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act, to jump-start consumer spending. Obama, in turn, passed the $787 billion Economic Stimulus Act. This act created jobs in education and infrastructure, ending the recession in the third quarter of 2009. Both Presidents took action to address rising healthcare cost. Bush created the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program. It helped seniors with prescription drug costs up to a point, known as the "doughnut hole." Obama pushed through the Affordable Care Act. Its goal was to reduce health care costs. The benefits it provided were realized after 2014. Obamacare closed the Medicare “doughnut hole.” one that Bush had
The Affordable Health Care Act, also known as “Obamacare”, is basically just Obama trying to make sure that the whole nation has insurance and if they do not have it by January 1, 2014, they will be penalized with a fine. To make insurance more affordable, many Americans are able to qualify for a subsidy that lowers the cost depending on age and income. Also, “Obamacare” made it impossible for insurers’ to discriminate, or charge higher rates, for anyone who has pre-existing conditions or for a certain gender. Medicare will also be easier to obtain due to requirement of insurance. This law was passed in the U.S. on March 23, 2010 by Congress and President Barack Obama.
He improved defense spending by 35%. He also made a treaty with the Soviet Union. He also bombed Libya after Libya attacked American soldiers in
Throughout United States history there have been several influential Presidents. Many modern day Presidents such as Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagen and Barack Obama, have made remarkable impacts on society. They have worked and created programs to positively affect our nation. Some of these actions include the Family and Medical Leave Act, Violence Against Women Act, minimum wage increase, Tax Reform Act of 1986, Environmental Protection Agency, deregulation, SDI, Affordable Care Act, and the Dont Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010. These are just a few of numerous actions/programs these men enacted.
Bush supported the theory of trickle-down economics and promised large tax cut, and called for improved education through
President Ronald Reagan increased military spending, stated tax cuts and created payouts to justify deregulation, all this created a huge national debt for the American population. President George H.W. Bush had inherited a host of problems from the Reagan Administration. The national debt that was created due to the Reagan administration did not leave President H.W. Bush with any benefit for the years as president of the United States. S&L (Savings and Loans) programs had stolen from the American people, the companies had used investment techniques to invest money that the American people had issued to an S&L program. These investments would sometimes turn out to be good for the companies and sometimes it would turn out to be a bad investment.
As previously mentioned, Bush faced a multitude of crises during his presidency. Perhaps one of the biggest and most influential crisis was the terrorist attacks of September 11th. At the time of the attacks in New York City, the president was in a Sarasota, Florida elementary school to witness the implement of his No Child Left Behind Act. His administration were already alerted of the incidents underway that September morning, but Bush was left unaware until the second plane crashed into the World Trade Center. It was assumed that he was not fully informed to not cause panic among the students in the class.
George W. Bush Jr. had his successes and failures in both domestic and foreign policies during his presidential years. With starting his presidential career, he mainly focused on the issues of domestic policy, in nature. As these policies ranged from cutting taxes, seeking to expand energy production, to strengthening public education, a startled tragedy struck. Bush Jr. went to Florida on September 10, 2001 to make known his education ingenuities he involved himself with. From Bush being there and getting a call that planes crashed into the World Trade Center was devastating.
There were many similarities between both attacks on our country. One most importantly was
Historically, whenever there is an economic depression or recession, it is named after the president whose term it occurred under (except for the recession that occurred during the Obama administration which he successfully blamed George W. Bush). History also remembers presidents who helped the economy thrive, FDR with the new deal techniques to get the United States out of debt during the great depression. This gives FDR a spot in history as a great president who helped triumph and lead the country during difficult times. George W. Bush is another example of a president who was held in high esteem based on his actions. George W. Bush was the president during the terrorist attack on the twin towers on September 11, 2001.
What does it do for me? Is it expensive? Will I be approved? ObamaCare or PPACA, was signed in to law to reform (make changes to improve) the healthcare industry by President Obama, March 23, 2010. This was upheld by the Supreme Court on June 28, 2012.
Do you remember the day that changed America forever? Two hijacked planes crashed into the side of the Twin Towers in New York City killing thousands. Another plane went into the pentagon and the last was stopped before it got to its destination. In the afternoon of September 11, 2001 George W. Bush delivered a speech that gave relief to the American people after the massacre. This was a disturbing moment in our history that shook the very foundation of America.
How were the Clinton policies similar to the Reagan-Bush policies? The Reagan, Bush, and Clinton administrations stretched through the years 1981 to 2001 and with each inaugural address, the incoming president would announce to the United States that changes would be made to benefit the majority of Americans rather than the few. Despite what was said, their actions contradicted their campaign speeches. The change in political parties in power created an illusion of change among American citizens.
George W Bush Address to the Nation September 11, 2001: Rhetorical Analysis September 11, 2001 is a day that will be remembered in American history forever. This day was one of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil. More than 3,000 innocent people lost their lives that day. George W Bush had been president of the Untied States for less than a year at the time of the attacks.
Barack Hussein Obama II was born on August 4, 1961, in Hawaii. His parents, who met as students at the University of Hawaii, were Ann Dunham, a white American from Kansas, and Barack Obama, Sr., a black Kenyan studying in the United States. Obama's father left the family when Obama was two and, after further studies at Harvard University, returned to Kenya, where he died in an automobile accident nineteen years later. After his parents divorced, Obama's mother married another foreign student at the University of Hawaii, Lolo Soetoro of Indonesia. From age six through ten, Obama lived with his mother and stepfather in Indonesia, where he attended Catholic and Muslim schools.
I. Introduction: A. Attention Getter: Does anyone knows what major event had occurred in USA on September 11, 2001? Hopefully everyone does. Terrorist attacked World Trade Center and Pentagon, and took lives of about 2996 Americans and more than 6000 were wounded or injured. Everyone still has agony of pain from the terrible loss of that day, but remember how were we united and saved lives of many wounded ones.
