There are several types of tribes such as Algonquian, Iroquois, Powhatan, Seneca, Mohawk, Tuskegee, Delaware, Cheyanne, Wampanoag, Oneida, etc. The Native American tribe Powhatan, Algonquian, and Iroquois were both tribe that were very well known in America. Chief Powhatan or his proper name Wahunsenacawh was the paramount chief of The Powhatan Indians. The estimated population was 14,000–21,000 people in eastern Virginia when the English settled in Jamestown. These people are called Virginia Algonquians because they’re language is eastern-Algonquian. Initially, there were various different Algonquian tribes in Virginia, including the Powhatan, Pamunkey, Mattaponi, and Chickahominy tribes. They shared the same language and culture, but each tribe was independent from the others. In the 16th century, Chief Powhatan united all these tribe into the Powhatan Confederacy.
