In regards to the perception of importance, I did not respond to any of them with a 1 or 2. In fact, I responded with a 4 the majority of the time. Not only do I see the significance of these competencies based on State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC), but also through my experience on multiple campuses and their direct impact on the campus culture and student achievement. When these competencies are followed and care is given to ensure you have a happy and productive staff, student achievement rises. With the exception of Competence 008 – Budgeting, Resource Allocation, Financial Management, and Technology, all of them can be linked directly to the day-to-day operations and environment of a teacher. The unspoken attitude was, “they should be performing well so no need to celebrate it.” I responded with a 2 to “implementing strategies to ensure the development of collegial relationships and effective collaboration” and “establish procedures to assess and modify implementation plans to ensure achievement of campus vision.” Again, these may have been valuable to the administrator, but they were not successfully able to communicate that importance. No Child Left Behind was passed by congress and was signed by President George Bush. The federal role was holding schools accountable for the students academic success due to No Child Left Behind law. Standard testing were given to ensuring that states and schools were performing and were achieving at a certain level. If states did not comply with the new requirements of No Child Left Behind then they were at risk of losing federal funding. The No Child Left Behind was ultimately created to change the fact that American education system was considered internationally competitive.
Today there is a huge debate between Common Core Standards and the Alabama College and Career Readiness Standards. These two standards are highly debated and investigated amongst teachers, government officials, and parents to understand which standards will enhance student’s academic knowledge. Some state political boards do not agree with the new adoption if the Common Core Standards. After researching both standards and gaining my own opinion, I think to adopt the new Common Core Standards is a positive thing for our school systems. Even though it has some negative like difficult transition for students, standards are vague, and unequal access to technology in the classroom and at home (Meador, 2017).

According to Hubbard, Zapf, & Ronan, (2003), “Competency restoration is the process used when an individual charged with a crime is found by a court to be incompetent to stand trial, typically due to an active mental illness or an intellectual disability.” Before the legal process can continue, a suspect should be restored to competency. That gives the suspect the chance to consult with his or her defense lawyer to have a factual and rational understanding of the legal proceedings.
In the case of Ms. Tyler, she appears to be experiencing the presence of delusions. Delusional disorder of the persecutory type is a psychiatric condition in which the patients experience delusions with thought and mood disorder. Delusions can also be experienced by a person with dementia or schizophrenia. The Brown Assessment of Beliefs Scale is a good assessment tool to measure delusionality (Phillips, 2013). Because delusions can be experienced by individuals with PTSD, additional screens may be helpful in Ms. Tyler’s case.

Competency Standard III To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance Functional Area 8: Self I provide an emotionally and physically safe and secure environment where the children can thrive and develop their sense of self. I greet each child by name, smiling and giving them one-on-one attention. I show the children that I respect them by acknowledging their feeling and helping them express those feelings appropriately. We follow a routine, and I discuss and explain when there will be a change or disruption to that schedule.
IDEA OR PRACTICE BEING USED: The district worked collaboratively with teachers, parents, and leaders to develop an afterschool program to help underpriviliged students who may not have resources at home to help with education or who may need extra help with learning. Students are also provided food and activities that promote self-awareness, leadership qualities, and physical/extracurricular activities that they wouldn 't have access to otherwise. It also created programs that bring students and their families together to show students they are a part of their success. All of the students ' diverse cultures are celebrated.
Competency Goal III Competency Goal III is to support social and emotional development and to provide guidance. There are three main areas to succeed in this, the things are self-concept, sociality, and guidance. One focus on Competency Goal III is self-concept. Children’s environments support the development of positive self-concepts.

On November 9, Mead School District held the fifth school board meeting of this academic year. Running the meeting was Superintendent Tom Rockefeller, President Board Director Ron Farley, Vice President Board Director Denny Denholm, and Board Directors, Maureen O’Connor, Robert Olson, and Carmen Green. All of the directors were recently re-elected, excluding Maureen O’Connor who isn’t up for re-election until next year. Due to this, there was an almost celebratory feel to the meeting, with many of the Directors, especially Vice-President Denholm, making jokes and being conversational with the small audience. At the meeting, I was the only person attending that was not giving a presentation to the board.
One of the unique aspects of the Department of Child Development and Family Relations is that many of the department’s large core courses offer teaching assistant opportunities to undergraduate students. Teaching assistant opportunities are valuable for undergraduate students to decide whether to apply as a graduate teaching position, great addition to a resume, and for a letter of recommendation. From my teaching assistant experience, I was able to fully grasp the concepts of middle childhood development, form a new appreciation for professors and teaching assistants, and reflect on myself as a student. Does a counsellor’s age matter? This is a question I have been considering throughout my time on this course and the answer is not straightforward. Within this essay I will critically reflect on my insight about age and counselling, and through doing this how it has prepared me to become more of an aware and ethical user of counselling skills. Van Wagoner (1991) says Therapist self-insight refers to the extent to which a therapist is aware of one’s own feelings and understands their basis.
In this part I will review myself, about what have I done and what can I do, so I can be closer to my vision. As I have mentioned in my current situations I have strength, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. My strategy is that I want to maintain my strength, overcome my weaknesses and threats and take advantage of the opportunity. My strengths are my calm and observant personality.
