Some common characteristics are that the leaves are alternate and in a single plane. Leaves are projected out of the stem and they have spikelet flowers hence they are wind pollinated. New shoots propagate from rhizomes. The common reed is an example of this grass family. It is a disturbance-adapted plant that could be found in sunny wetland areas and also found in moist areas where drainage has been impeded. Another example is called Smooth Witchgrass, it also is disturbance adapted and likes bare ground. This grass is found in sunny areas with compact soil such as cracks in pavements in an urban
A hydrilla grows a long steam that has many leaves on it as well as tiny white flowers on them which float above the water. They are an aquatic plant which means they live in water such as clean water, including lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, and marshes. Seen mostly in the Southeast of Florida and in their habitat they form dense mats of vegetation, can grow with little light, and more efficent in taking nutrients than other species. Florida faces many problems within their water bodies and waterways. The aquatic plants pollute 96% of the public lakes and rivers.
Teeghan Guess Ms. Delong February 7, 2018 Practical Law Cyntoia Brown Cyntoia Brown, a sixteen year old accused of first degree murder has an interesting past, but does that justify her wrongdoing? Cyntoia’s biological mother had Cyntoia at sixteen and was no ready to be a mother. Her mom struggled with alcoholism, drug addiction, and even prostitution. So her mother gave Cyntoia to Ellenette Brown who would be Cyntoia’s adoptive mother. As Cyntoia got older she began to have control issues, became manipulative, and was very possessive of her adoptive mother Ellenette.
In recent readings about Cyntoia Brown, who according to Willingham, previously was a victim of human sex trafficking, is now serving a life sentence for murder. The source reports that Brown suffered from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, grew up in an abusive home and ran away from her adoptive parent’s house prior to becoming involved in prostitution in Nashville. She was staying with different people and using drugs and alcohol. As a runaway, she then met a 24-year-old pimp named "Cut Throat," who eventually began physically and sexually abusing her, and forced her into prostitution according to Willingham. The article states that on August 7, 2004, Brown testified she was solicited for sex by 43-year-old Johnny Mitchell Allan, who picked her up near a Sonic parking lot and drove her back to his house.
There are cities, like Philadelphia, that as time passes they start to grow in size and population as a result they have to create recreational places. As years go by, people start to interact more in recreational places until they become a cosmopolitan canopy. According to the book “The Cosmopolitan Canopy: Race and Civility in Everyday Life” by Elijah Anderson, a cosmopolitan canopy is a place that provides opportunities for new relationships to develop and where people come together to socialize and practice getting along with others. In this reading, Anderson also explains that a cosmopolitan canopy is not just created by the place itself or by the diversity of ethnicity, gender, and social class in and around it but also by the “goodwill that is expressed and experienced by most who enter these premises” (Anderson 11). Personally, I agree with Anderson because in order for something to become a cosmopolitan canopy, there has to be difference on the people in it.
In The Bean Trees, all of the families are loving, but they also go through events that challenge them and change them forever. These families include Estevan and Esperanza, who had a very rough past and still fight through it. Another family is Lou Ann, Angel, and Dwayne Ray, who go through a very hard transition early on in the marriage. The last family is Taylor and Turtle, who through eventful circumstances, become a family. These challenges change the families forever.
The local wildlife species consist of Osprey, Roseate Tern, Piping Plover, Common Goldeneye, American Redstart, Roseate terns, Least Terns, Common Terns, and Shorebirds as well as Sea Turtles. Population decline has made many beaches actually closed or fenced off during breeding seasons for Piping Plovers because of illegal hunting for their feathers. Many of the common vegetation in this area are Yellow-horned Poppy, Mile-a-Minute and Oriental Bittersweet. All three of these plants were introduced to the local land from different parts of the world, they are not naturally occurring in this part of the world. Speaking of such, phragmites has almost made an appearance in this area blocking
Zooxanthellae’s response to thermal stress conditions and the effects it has with its symbiotic relationship with Coral Reefs Introduction Coral reefs are among the most riches ecosystems on Earth. Coral reefs only cover less than two percent of the ocean surface (Fujise 2014). Within these coral reefs, corals have a coevolutionary relationship with zooxanthellae.
This is how they become isolated or trapped in pools of water that are not part of the stream or channel. Grass pickerel usually orient themselves with their head toward the shore or edge of the water.
Throughout the book “The Bean Trees” by Barbara Kingsolver, there are many examples of nontraditional families. Your traditional nuclear family would consist of a father, mother, a child maybe two. You do not see that in “The Bean Trees”. One example of a nontraditional family would be before Taylor and her mother Alice before Taylor left Kentucky. Then another nontraditional family would be Estevan and Esperanza.

There were three friends, named Cooperantum, Curans and, Mutatio; Latin words for cooperative, caring, and change. They were named based on their personality, one friend was cooperative, and one was caring and the third one, change because he changes his personality in the end. Cooperantum and Curans were very good friends because if either of them had troubles, one would help another to solve their problems. While, Mutatio acted for his benefits and did not think about his friends. So, because of that, Cooperantum and Curans became better friends with each other than with Mutatio.
Introduction: Considering that clogging has always been of interest to me, I decided to research the Green Grass Cloggers for my annotated bibliography. I have danced nearly my entire life, exploring styles such as ballet, jazz, and tap, except clogging. Tap and clogging are similar yet very different. I hope to learn more about the Green Grass Cloggers and what clogging is all about.
