Elona Musliu Professor Stewart English 1101 Composition and Rhetoric 18 February 2018 Commercial Ice Cream A profuse amount of people would love to enjoy a nice frozen dessert on a hot summer afternoon. Whether it is gelato, frozen yogurt, sorbet, donduma, soft serve, kulfi, or just plain, regular ice cream, people seem to think that they all are delicious and mouth watering. Ice cream has been around for centuries. Legend says that in AD 54-68, slaves were sent to obtain snow so they could mix the snow with nectar, fruit pulp, and honey. Over a millennium of years later, Jacob Fussell, a dairyman from Baltimore, opened a commercial ice cream factory in Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania. This began the manufacturing of delicious ice cream that is presently enjoyed. However, grocery stores did not start selling ice cream until the 1930’s, and it became so mainstream and well known after World War II. People in today’s society should learn about ice cream about what kind of ingredients are put in it, how you process it, and also how it is distributed. The next time a costumer ever eats Häagen-dazs, Baskin Robbins, Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers, Blue Bell, Talenti, and many more, you will have an idea of how the product is made. Citizens should thank Jacob Fussell for making everyone’s taste buds flutter whenever they eat delicious commercial ice cream because he is the one who started it all. They also will know, the next time they receive ice cream at a department store, or anywhere and it is not up to their standards, they can return it back for a full refund because that is the way it should
