Imagine you just ate a banana and you have the peel right in front of you. What should you do? Should you compost it or throw it in the garbage? Rethink your statement! You should have composted it because it would have a beneficial outcome for the environment. Composting is beneficial for the environment because it reduces the amount of trash going to landfills and keeps soil fertilized which will result in reducing the number of times that you need to water plants.

First of all, composting reduces the amount of trash going to landfills. Composting is a great way to reduce trash going to landfills. Well what is composting! Composting is nature’s process of recycling decomposed organic material into rich and fertilized soil. As I looked at what types of garbage go to landfills, 1/3 of it could have been composted. Did you know you can turn you spoil in to rich soil by composting? As Mississippi University of Mississippi said “the best way to have rich and fertilized soil is to compost”. Well you might be thinking how can food waste turn into rich soil? Since the food waste has nutrients in it the soil absorbs it which will turn it into rich fertilized soil. Another benefit of composting is that it can reduce the amount of times you need to water your plants. Since the nutrients get absorbed you don’t need to water your plants many times. This could reduce the amount of water being used to water plants. As Mississippi University “nutrients that are absorbed by composting can reduce the number of times you need to water plants”.
