1. Computer Configuration
1.1. Computer configuration – is the arrangement of computer hardware (physical) and software (logical) to make a whole and make up a system. Basically, it is where you connect or attached desktop and monitor together, connecting mouse and keyboard and also installing some related software for the computer to be able to fully function.
In this task, as a computer administrator I will be setting up a computer lab for small private middle school which will occupy 50 students. I take into account that 5 of the students are physically challenged.
2. Suitable Input and Output and other peripheral devices.
2.1. System Unit – Started from system unit, recommended CPU or desktop computer preferably with processor

The biggest advantage using Windows 7 is familiarity. The pop-up Start menu and the basic operation are close enough with Windows XP. It is also user friendly where user can easier to interact with simple GUI rather than other operating system such as Windows 8.1 which is more complicated. Although Windows 7 has slow speed at startup, it still has the advantage for user to manage their pc performance. For instance, latest technology of computer that is meant to be used with Windows 8.1 is much faster using the Windows 7 …show more content…
The most basic points that are required by students to their school paper are typing, calculating, present their work and gain knowledge. With these most basic things, we will be able to identify the suitable applications for middle school.
One of the most popular application packages that will cover the students learning processes is Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office consists of several version based year of released. Microsoft Office Word for word processing, Excel mostly for tabulation and calculation and Power Points for multimedia presentation are among the most popular applications that can be used for daily school work activities. (Microsoft, 2013) Therefore, it is good practice to use Microsoft Office frequently so students are exposed to the latest technology and able to do their school work easier.
In order for students to gain knowledge via Internet, additional application must be added for browsing the internet such as Google Chrome. Google Chrome is an application that is also known as browser. By using Google Chrome, email and obtaining study note will be easier. The problem with using internet browser is students misuse the internet service and will be exposed to adultery and
The first performance change I am going to talk about is the improvement and impact of upgrading from windows XP to windows 7. There are huge improvement windows seven could compare to XP. Windows XP was released in 2001 it was designed to running on 300MHz Pentium II CPUs with a mere 128MB of RAM which is not enough for the modern computer. Windows 7 could reduce the boot times, faster files transfer, more secure and DirectX 11 support. These features will benefit the user or an organisation by allowing them using a faster and efficient system.
Components Computers have one or a lot of big or small R-A-M chips inside. RAM chips are a random access memory chip inside, the computer uses it to store information that will be used anytime or used to store something like the copy clipboard(The copy clipboard is the thing that stores what you copy to paste later) to delete/change later. There is also a spinning or solid state hard drive that uses DVD like disks that stores information like your video games, pictures, or other things. A CPU is the thing that your computer uses to do all the processing work, like our brain but not like it. CPU stands central-processing-unit.
P2 Explain the purpose of operating systems Without an operating system the computer cannot function. An operating system is described as the system software that represents the essential layer between the BIOS and the applications software such as word processor, presentation, database etc. Operating system manages use of the system’s hardware and software such as time sharing and multi-tasking. It provides a consistent way for applications to interact with the hardware and for users to interact with the software and hardware. Operating system is important because it allows the computer to serve a variety of tasks instead of just one.
In “Unplugged: The Myth of Computers in the Classroom,” David Gelernter suggests the limit of technology use in the classroom. Over that past several years, technology has advanced quite a bit. This new outbreak of technology is beneficial in some ways but Gelernter feels that technology is replacing the ways of teaching. He sees the significance of the subject and offers much visual analysis which helps the reader take more caution in using technology while in the classroom. Gelernter feels that technology builds a wall that enables students to build strong, basic skills.
Should SAT scores play a bigger part than high school GPA in admission to a college? Since the early 1900s, the SAT test has been administered each year to high school students in the United States of America (College board 1). The SAT is a standardized test based on a students’ proficiency in math, reading and writing. In recent years questions has been raised about whether or not the SAT test can be used to measure any high school students’ skills.
And a computer system can be divided into 4 components: the operating system, the application programs, the uses, and the hardware. Without operating system we cannot use the computer. Booting Process To start the boot procedure, turn on the PC. This is known as a frosty boot.
CPU- The CPU (central processing unit) is the ‘brain’ of a computer. It carries out all calculations and instructions from software/hardware. It works by taking input data from input devices like the mouse or keyboard, processes the data and produces a form of output like a program opening. 3.
The first computer is for the teacher’s purpose only, but the second computer is used for the children doing sensory play. Sensory play is when the children free play with different activities. For example, some children 's choice to sit around the table
So it is lead to forgetting the basic way of learning. For example, when the teacher gives students homework they are turning to use of technological devices to search for the answers, rather than return to the main book. On the other hand, we can use the tablet devices in a good way to avoid all these defects, by observing teachers or the parents for their children and students and put some guidance of using tablets, such as placing the appropriate time. Also, the families can close some apps which are unwanted. (Peter, 1997,
A study conducted by Tsitsika and Janikan in 2013 stated that the usage of the internet continuously grow. About 32.7% of the world’s population has access to the social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Wikis and many more which let people to share their interests easily with others everywhere. So the reciprocal connectedness all over the world is growing rapidly due to the use of the internet. When students use technological gadgets like laptops and others by the
Many critics may argue and say that technology in education is dangerous. It can waste a students’ time by getting him or her sidetracked by distractions they find online. However when students avoid technology in education, they have to spend long hours, days, maybe even weeks searching for certain information in various different books. Students that really want to learn will force discipline upon themselves. Even if students didn’t use technology, anything could easily distract them when studying.
In the classroom, technology can encompass all kinds of tools from low-tech pencil, paper, and chalkboard, to the use of presentation software, or high-tech tablets, online collaboration and conferencing tools, and more. The newest technologies allow us to try things in physical and virtual classrooms that were not possible before. Today, I cannot imagine how difficult it is to teach without technology and how hard it is to learn without it. Technology plays a major part in our lives as students.
Some common input devices include: • Keyboard • Mouse • Touchscreen Some common output devices include: • Printer • Monitor • Projector Software Resources Software resources include all sets of information processing instructions. Software is a general term for the various kinds of programs used to operate computers and related devices. Data Resources Data resources include data and database.
