Type of PC Operating Systems
Introduction Electronic devices such as desktop, laptop, tablets and smartphones have become part of our everyday life now. With our current generation, we uses them every single day in our life, no matter it is for work, studies, entertainment or personal affairs. Since we uses them so often, we have eventually become oblivious to how they work. When we are commanding our smartphones with the sense of touch, scrolling and sliding the mouse while using a personal computer. It feels easy and good knowing that we are in control. However, there are a lot of processing going on in our devices. And operating system is the main reason in handling the necessary tasks. An operating system manages a personal computer's

Dave Cullen also stated that in the 1960s IBM were the leading in computer hardware and developed the OS/360. However Unix created PDP-7 minicomputer, which has the standard in comparsion but only the size of the device are much smaller than IBM have created. In that decade, a computer that did not use up an entire room was considered small. It costs $72,000 with a Flip-Chip technology comes with dual transport DECtape drives. In comparison with our current generation's standard it only had a memory capcity of just …show more content…
It manages input, processing and output in a device. They are four types of operating systems. One of the four types is Real-time operating system. Real-time operating systems specialized for real time operations capable of controling industrial systems and machinery. It has response time predictability and being determinisitic. It also has quality like speed. However, it has limited capability of user-interface and unlimited user utilities. The most important thing of a Real-time operating system is handling the resources of the computer so that a specific operation executes in precisely the same amount of time, everytime it
1. Describe the functions of the kernel, service, and command layers of an OS. The kernel basically acts as the interface between hardware and applications. The kernel is also known as the engine or core of an OS, the outermost part of an operating system that interacts with user commands. Some of the kernel’s tasks are resource allocation, process management, memory management, input/output device management, and security management.
I have been asked to use Ubuntu? One comparison between windows and linux is that Linux is a lot freer than windows because windows are restricted. Another comparison is windows are a lot safer because if something breaks you get paid support whereas on Linux you do not have any support. My experience with Linux is not much as I am entirely a windows user.
Task1 (3) - comparison of three operating system Components Window 7 Window 8 Ubunutu 12.04 Security It has better firewall. It also support bit locker drive encryption, which encrypt window hard disk to keep documents and passwords as well. Also help to protect desktop against viruses and other malware with Microsoft security essential. It also supports parent’s control which is also an essential part.

Unit 2 – P3 and D1 Intro: Throughout this assignment, I will be discussing about how to manage and maintain an operating system for e.g. removing files that may contain viruses and cleaning files that are unnecessary in the operating system. I will also be talking about the benefits and drawbacks of each software utilities and I will be explaining and defining what each of the definitions actually mean. There are four essential categories that I will be focusing on and this will be explained later on. Security
There are many operating systems but I am not listing all of them. One operating system is Windows, made by Microsoft. Another operating system is Mac, made by Apple. And one operating system you most likely don 't know is Linux, Linux is an open source operating system and it is the fastest, tho you probably don 't and will never use it. An open-source operating system is an operating system that you can edit like Windows is not an open source operating system so you can’t edit it, but in Linux, you can edit its operating system.
P2 Explain the purpose of operating systems Without an operating system the computer cannot function. An operating system is described as the system software that represents the essential layer between the BIOS and the applications software such as word processor, presentation, database etc. Operating system manages use of the system’s hardware and software such as time sharing and multi-tasking. It provides a consistent way for applications to interact with the hardware and for users to interact with the software and hardware. Operating system is important because it allows the computer to serve a variety of tasks instead of just one.
The introduction of personal computers in the 1980s and 1990s revolutionized the way that people worked and communicated, allowing for greater efficiency and productivity. The widespread adoption of personal computers during this time period led to the creation of new industries such as software development and computer
In 1910, Jack Johnson became the first black boxer to win the Heavyweight Championship. In 1910, immigration reached its peak. Babe Ruth was important in the 1910’s for being really good at baseball. Henry Ford was important in the 1910’s because of his impact on the motorized vehicle industry.
The system uses 32 megabytes of memory to function. The BIOS on the system is accompanied by a 256K flash memory. There also is a Pentium MMX 266 Megahertz processor within the system. The searchable product number of the PS10 Powerstation with Touchscreen Monitor is PS10-3.
If there are so many programs, and the resources are limited, this software called (kernel) also decides when and how long a program should run. It is also called scheduling. It might be very complex to access the hardware directly, since there’re so many different hardware designs for the same type of components. Usually kernels implement somehow level of hardware abstraction to hide the underlying complexity from applications and provide a uniform interface. This also helps application developers to develop
As we explained, system is the embedded system. So it is obvious that it is divided in two parts where one is the user and on the
There are different kinds of operating systems in the technology world. Microsoft makes Windows which is the most widely used operating system in the world. 90% of the world uses it. The most used after Microsoft is Apple which makes OSX. There is also Ubuntu and Unix.

Task 2 2B Digital technology ¬– a health threat? We live in a rapidly changing, highly technological world, where the present day digital technology affects several parts of our lives. At work, people use digital technology to communicate, gather information and solve problems relevant to their place of work. A growing number of people also use digital technology at home, to keep in touch with friends and family, check bank balances, play interactive games, participate in online forums and interact with others on social media websites and mobile apps, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
