India is presently the second most populated country in the world. According to an UN report if the population of India keeps on increasing at this pace then by 2028, it will be more than that of China. Family planning is one of the biggest challenges being faced by India today. Everything from GDP to poverty to sustainable development is related to the size of families. The more the people, the more will be the distribution, the smaller will be the individual’s share and there will be lesser left for the future. Therefore family planning is a wholesome package; it improves the economics of a family as well as the country and in minute way for the world also. Mostly poorer families generally prefer having larger families so that the number of helping hands can increase. But the fact which they do not realise is that increasing the size of the family does not only increase the number of helping hands but also the number of stomachs.
The solution to the problem of population growth is family planning. Family planning refers to planning the overall growth of the family. It includes planning when to have children, the no.of children, methods of birth control,etc.
Family planning can only be achieved if our government becomes stricter about its laws. Although there are laws of minimum age for marriage still one-fourth of India marries before that age. The law exists for the overall development of the society and if punishment develops the society why not punish? Nobody cares what the law is till they are punished.
