Sustainable development can be defined in different ways. One of the ways is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brutland Report,1987). Sustainable development has become one of the most successful way to be introduced in nowadays or in future. Growth has no set limits in terms of population or resource use beyond which lies ecological disaster. Different limits hold for the use of energy, materials, water, and land (Brutland Commission,1987). Economic growth and development clearly involve changes in the physical environment. Each biological system in everywhere cannot be saved in place. Many observers believe that participatory democracy, undominated by vested interests, is a prerequisite for achieving sustainable development (Mintzer,1992). There are total of seven key principles of sustainable development. Based on the seven key concepts of sustainable development that the hoteliers are practicing are futurity, inter-generational equity, participation, balancing of economic and environmental factors, environmental capacities, emphasis on quality and compatibility with local ecosystems. There are hotels that practicing and reflects upon these principles but also there are hotels that violating the principles. The seven principles are guidelines before making any decisions. One of the principles is futurity. Futurity is a consideration for future. The decision that make must considered for three to five years. Any development should be considered against a longer period than that normally used by business and hotels. Every hotel has their very own strategy or vision to achieve their targets in sustainable development. Besides that, inter-generational equity means do not take any resources from the next generation. People should only take necessities.
