Wamn! A player just kicked the ball into the goal, Some think competitive sports are bad while others think it’s good. It’s clear that overall competitive sports is a hot topic. It’s clear that the negative overlooks the positive because of 3 main reasons concussions, injuries, and mental reasons. Lately, injuries are starting to become more common as the sports start their seasons. A big topic on injuries that has come up a lot more recently is concussions. Back in the day, winners were winners and losers were losers. Nowadays kids get trophies for participating. One time a nfl players son got a trophy for participating in a event and the boys dad made the kid return the trophy because he said he did not work for it. This ties in with why competitive sports are harmful because when the kid got the trophy he probably felt good about it and he also felt that he actually did something that is until the dad made him return the trophy which probably made him feel worthless and that he sucked. On the other hand some people think that competitive sports are beneficial because they teach life lessons.

As has been discussed previously, the role of concussive injuries in sport is currently controversial and subject to much discussion. It is notable that there are specific sports related attitudes to concussion as well as more general mechanistic approaches. The following section will seek to address these points in more detail utilising published literature. The tern concussion, also known as a mild traumatic brain injury, is derived from the Latin concussus which means to shake violently (Cantu, 1996).
To get a full understanding of the impact a concussion has on athletes, a sample population was usually chosen. The main objective of the research was to measure the immediate effects and natural recovery course relating to symptoms, cognitive functioning, and postural stability following sport related concussions. There are two stages an athlete must go through; Physical rest, which means strenuous activity should be avoided until the athlete has no post-concussion symptoms, Cognitive rest, because a concussion impacts the brain 's cognitive function, this means no reading, time off of school or work etc... This article also shows the percentages of how long on average an athlete returns to play, most of the time athletes recover between 1-6
The milleaneal genearation sparks many different types of reactions when talked about. Words such as technology, cell phones, and even the word lazy are thrown around. Throughout my generation I believe there has been two major explosions. One explosion is in sports. Sports have become increasingly popular.
Head injuries and concussions are what scientist believe have caused these brain diseases in young athletes. These injuries are sustained by serious blows to the head to the point when the brain slams back and forth against the inner head. Traumatic brain injuries are long term effects that are sustained through various blows to the head which scar the brain itself. Unlike TBIs, concussions can be healed in due time as long as the person who has experienced the concussions has followed the necessary procedures and has received enough rest to further help the brain heal. Some head injuries although can lead to these brain diseases.
The concentration on concussions in sports has elevated in the past few years given the number of sports figures who have passed away all too soon as a result of the studies conducted after their passing. The severity of the damage concussions can cause is still to be proven, but prevention should be a topic that is top of mind for anyone who participates in sports, from youth to professionals. In the case of Steve Montador, whose career ended due to a concussion, was documented as a shoulder injury is proof that sports leagues are aware of the challenge, but may be unsure of how to address. Some are concerned with what the lack of physicality will do to the overall “entertainment” factor of attracting fans.
In todays’ sports society there are a lot of issues that tend to come up and become very popular. A huge one that caught my eye that has become a great issue in today’s society is concussions within the National Football League. The documentary that I found upon this subject was on PBS Frontline titled “League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis”. In the documentary there were a multitude of problems and cases that were covered within the concussion aspect and the possibilities that have happened due to
