Humanity is an important aspect in everything that we do and on how we live our lives. It is very important for each and every person to be treated well as humans. If and ever there are instances that degrade you as a person, and other people who inhumanely treats you, it is already a wound to human rights which will obviously make you wary of your belief in equality and safety among others. It is important that we should trust people whom we look up to such as those artists, celebrities, politicians, business tycoons, and even ministry leaders. But then again, should we really put our trust to these people? Or it is better if we stay away from them since contrary to what we see outside, there are more hidden scandals and issues that malign their personal lives? …show more content…
Though we look up to them, it is important that we know what they are behind the glittering light of the cameras and behind closed doors. Are they worth our admiration? Or humanity will simply be better off without them? You be the judge on whether these people are still worthy of our strong confidence in humanity. 1. Will Smith. Smith may be pretty famous for being a well-acclaimed American actor and producer on top of being a rapper and a song writer, but that does not mean that he is a clean old …show more content…
John Edwards. He is a living proof that even politicians who campaign and make their names as clean as possible can also shatter our faith in humanity. Edwards was said to have a secret affair for years and even fathered a child with a campaign staff. The worst part was the fact that he had his affair when his legal wife was battling breast cancer. He denied his claims before, but admitted he had the affair in 2008 despite still denying the fact that he was the father of the child. In 2010 though, he admitted that he was the father of the child and he was charged in 2011 for using their campaign funds to hide the
I chose to write about James "Honest Dick" Tate. His is a story not many people know about but it is one of the biggest financial scandals ever to hit Kentucky politics. In 1848 at the age of seventeen Tate began working as a clerk in the post office in Frankfort Kentucky and his political career would start six years later when he was appointed by the Governor of Kentucky to the position of Secretary of State. In 1867 Tate ran under the Democratic party for position of Kentucky state treasurer, he won the election and would continue as treasurer of the next twenty-one years. During his time in office Tate had the trust and respect of many fellow politicians which allowed much of his work in the Treasurery to go unnoticed and unquestioned hence the name "Honest Dick".
She reported that Sandusky had showered with her son in the Lasch Building. The investigation revealed no evidence of a crime. In a meeting with Sandusky, that included a caseworker from the Department of Public Welfare, the police detective advised Sandusky not to be showering with any other children (Crandall, 2014). The case was closed. The four officials were all informed of the police report and investigation status, but none reported it to the trustees or acted on it, they continued as if it did not happen.
His license to practice law was suspended in Arkansas for five years. He was also fined $90,000 for his obviously untrue testimony. After all that happened Hilary still stayed by Bill Clintons
It is tragic how humans try to be open to the world and trust other human beings and their environments but our values and inspirations are constantly challenged when good human beings try to live by what they care about. This is due to conflicting evils. Human goodness is fragile. We are vulnerable to disaster, because of the limits that we will reach in order to fit our models of what is good and just as well as what we care
His scandals may have shocked us as a country but they did not ruin
The films The Nine Lives of Marion Barry and Anita, contribute to history in allowing us to go back in the past to see how we as a society chose how to handle scandals, which creates certain expectation and set boundaries during the era in which they occurred. With this information, we can then redefine the differences between events in the past and compare them today. For example, Barry was elected into office countless times after countless drug scandals surfaced about his coke addition, yet Anita Hill’s reputation was destroyed after she accused Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment. Many would consider this to be great injustice, resulting in confusion. As a result, the media plays such an important role in helping us understand and in showing how some scandals are very specific to time, place, and culture which is why people react differently to them.
For instance, both he and Owen have lots of admiration for President John F. Kennedy. Kennedy appears to be a sort of role model to Owen, whose opinion John takes very seriously. This admiration diminishes, however, after Owen discovers that “JFK [a married man] was diddling Marilyn Monroe—and countless others” (367). Both John and Owen’s belief that Kennedy is trustworthy is tainted after this revelation, and they now believe that he is less respectable than they previously thought. The fact that the President is married while he was having affairs further upsets Owen and John because it further emphasizes his dishonorable nature.

Instead of Coolidge being blamed with fallout from the scandal, the republicans were able to connect McAdoo to the Scandal by connecting him with Doheny, who was in charge of the American Petroleum and Transport Company (“The Teapot Dome Scandal”). Although McAdoo did not end up being the democratic candidate, this connection to the Teapot Dome Scandal affected voters during the nomination. contributing to the split party. Furthermore, by placing blame on McAdoo, the Teapot Dome Scandal became even more linked to the Democrats than the Republicans in the election, as Calvin Coolidge had not been involved. This lead to the Republican party seeming less corrupt in terms of the candidates for the election, leading to more votes for the Republican party.

As a result, people’s attachments for tangible goods become more intense, especially celebrities. Celebrities have spent most of their lifetime persisting fame and wealth. However, their sufferings and sacrifices are eventually greater than common people. Everything that they do is exposed on social medias. They cannot do things that the average person can.

As children, we were taught by our parents that it is wrong to lie, cheat, and steal. As we grow up and enter into the real world with some knowledge of right and wrong, we see, first hand, the importance of ethics as well as its complexity. The role of ethics in our society and in an individual’s life is very necessary because it has a large influence on today, as well as the future. We need to learn about good ethics because they guide our decisions, make us who we are, and determine our future.
