After being a part of this year’s confirmation class and a member of Christ & Holy Trinity since 2005, I have realized what it is really like to be an Episcopalian. My family and I have been members of Christ & Holy Trinity since I was in preschool. We attended church services, I enrolled in the preschool, Sunday school, took part in several Christmas pageants, and sang in the children’s choir for six years. This church has been a major part of my life and I have many fond memories here since I was little.
Confirmation class has changed my views on what church really is and what my responsibility is as a member of it. I realize that church is not just an obligation on Sunday mornings and sometimes it is not all about the fun social gatherings and food, it’s a commitment of faith. Confirmation has opened new doors for me. I have met people I

We would prepare and serve food for homeless people. This was an impactful and eye opening experience for me. The people we served were so grateful and even though they did not have much, they had their faith. This experience ties into Psalm 23 because it exemplifies the message that the Lord loves and cares for all his people; followers of Christ should help other followers. I think God means for us all to help one another so we can all progress and become closer to Him.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped guide me and influence me in my journey of faith as an Episcopalian. I would especially like to thank my mentor, Mrs. Finan, my parents, Collin, Kate, Marcella, and Whitney. Thank you all for your guidance and support throughout my Confirmation. I plan to continue to worship as a new member of the Church and trust in God’s will. I’d like to close with a quote from Psalm 23, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life
After this, I began going to church more often, around once every month. However, my faith journey took a big turn once high school came around. I decided to go to Bellarmine. This opened up a completely new door to me, teaching me the ways of God and the goodness of people.
Our Lady of Victories, Catholic Church Glenelg was established on the 20th November 1927 after the foundations being laid earlier in 1926. This church was proposed as the new Roman Catholic Church of St Mary’s, located in High street, Glenelg. The first Catholics arrived in Australia in the first fleet in 1788, these Catholics were predominately Irish convicts. The protestant St Paul’s Lutheran Church Glenelg was established in 1961 after the hall was built and used for worship on site in 1954. An additional ‘Martin Luther House’ was purchased later in 1978 which is used for Sunday school, community care and offices for the pastor and secretary.
One of the first times that I volunteered was for a summer camp at my church. At this camp, I was assigned to the craft station. Every morning we were in charge of gathering the materials to make the craft kit’s needed for that day 's crafts, and
Volunteering time at church and school have become a major part of what I do. The youth group I belong to at St. Thomas UCC collects items and put together hygiene bags for the YWCA. For school, I often volunteer to help with the bands, working in the kitchen for Indoor Drumline shows and helping to set up the Craft Show. I also assist my classmates if they request it. If a student is absent, I will take responsibility to send them notes they may have missed in class, and also what they homework is so they can attempt to do it.
After we were done for the night, I couldn't wait to tell Lisa what had happened. I didn't know it was called being saved, I just knew that something amazing had happened. We spent the rest of my time at college house that night praying, thanking him for his glory, and for finding me when I needed him most. The rest of my night, I spent calling my family and friends and telling them the amazing news. From that moment on I have been fully devoted to my faith.
But I didn’t knew this until God’s Word was explained to me through those first weeks I started to visit this church. I remember counting up the days after my conversion, because I started to see the world through Him. God kept revealing His Word into my life and strengthening me through my college years, my new work and my new responsibilities as a later youth
Before I discuss my experience at Grace Lutheran Church I feel it would be beneficial to explain my Church Background, so that you can better understand my outsider view of the Sunday morning worship Service I attended. I have been raised in the Baptist/Southern Baptist church my entire life. My parents are from South Carolina, which is also where I grew up, so our idea of Church has always been a small community with a very relaxed atmosphere. I stopped attending the Baptists church when I was 16. I chose to join Bent-tree Bible Fellowship, a non-denominational church.
That was possibly my first ever type of community service. Now that I’m in high school I’ve moved onto bigger and more impactful services. I volunteer at a local bodega in my community. It may not seem like much but trust me, it is. I work at the bodega as a cashier and I work receiving no compensation.
While I was typing this to my aunt through Facebook, it got me thinking and realizing where I actually stood when it came to my religion. I was confused, worried, and curious. All those years at church in elementary school became unimportant. Everything I learned there was gone. I felt like I entered into a new world with much curiosity.
Throughout the novel, The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield is a deep character that shows(possesses) many personality traits. His character is what connects many readers to him and helps in understanding him. Some character traits Holden possesses are that he is generous, kindhearted, usually honest, very intelligent, makes quick judgements, speaks his mind, is anxious about change, and likes kids. Considering his many character traits, it is easy for the reader to understand and relate to Holden. There are many character traits that I share with him.
Ever since then, I started to surround myself with loving people, and consequently, my life became much brighter. I was anxiety free, I felt a lot more happy, and I felt like my faith grew stronger than ever. Relationships with people who are connected to the body of Christ encourage me to seek His light. I am convicted that APU has a strong Christian community filled with great people that I know would make me a better servant of
What is life’s most extraordinary pleasure? For many, money, power, and/or fame come to mind, and the idea of helping others does not register. It seems for every person eager to help, there are millions ready to hurt or disregard those in need. Nevertheless, the world is not beyond salvation; there are numerous individuals willing to give their time and labor to transform the world into a better place for all. These devoted people are volunteers, and they believe life’s most extraordinary pleasure is the joy of helping others.
After the prayer all the church members turn to each other and make an offering of peace to each other as a community to bring everyone together. This is where I had to join in also, all the members reach out to shake hands and exchange a hello or a god bless
I cringed every Wednesday that I attended my Confirmation class. I simply believed this event was a waste of my precious time. Unfortunately, this event was required if I wanted to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, so I reluctantly arrived at Saint Francis Xavier Church. It all began on a cold winter day in February. The snow was a white blanket, as it completely covered the ground.
My Conversion Testimony When I was young, I attend church with my neighbors and friends. When I became a teenager, my parents made me go to church. I loved church so I did not have a problem going, but I did not know the reason for attending church. I did not have a personal relationship with Jesus. After I became a young adult, I started partying and I did not want to go to church.
