Markus Zusak’s coming-of-age, historical fiction novel, The Book Thief, tells the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster child brought to live with a family in Molching, Germany during World War II. Throughout the novel, Liesel meets many characters who show tremendous courage in the face of the circumstances they are forced to endure like Hans, Rudy, and Max. However, the courage that they exhibit is not always the kind where they run out into battle with guns blazing but something else.
Freak the Mighty is about a boy named Max, and he is getting bullied. He is getting bullied because he’s “dumb, slow, and stupid”. Until Freak came along. They became best friends, and freak was weird too. Freak was bullied because he was “short, and small,” but very mighty indeed. They share a lot in common, so they are perfect for each other. Max is the main narrator of the book, and he tells a lot about his feelings and when he’s excited or something.
Max lived in a duplex accross the street from Max. so they became forever friends. In both the movie and the book Freak dies because his heart grew too big for his little body. Both the book and the movie are amusing. Both Freak and Max were bullied. Both in the book and the movie Max had a disorder with his body that prevented him from playing sports.
“When you're up in life, you get to know who your friends are. When you're down in life, you get to know who your friends are.” -Anonymous This quote fits perfectly with the novel. First of all, in the novel Freak the MIghty, Max and Kevin demonstrate a strong friendship. Especially, when they were there for each other in the good times and the bad. For this reason a good friendship includes teamwork, trust, and having adventures.
One example of how Max and Freak worked together was when they were watching fireworks. Freak couldn’t see the fireworks because he was tiny, but with the help of Max, he was carried by him, and placed on top of his
He showed selflessness by teaching Kevin new things, and perseverance when he never stopped guiding Max on where to go . Freak, Kevin, opens up Max’s perspective by teaching him new things, and teaching him to imagine great adventures. Max has a learning disability that prevents him from grasping the concepts that he has been taught. Freak would go on walks with Max, on their walks Freak would see nearby objects, and turn them into an adventure. In chapter seven of the story Freak the Mighty Freak says “There are fair maidens to rescue! Dragons to slay !” Freak woke Max up to go on an adventure early in the morning. While on adventures Kevin will use complex words and explain the meaning of the word to Max .Kevin was a provider of guidance for Max. When a gang and the leader, Blade, were chasing and taunting them, Freak kicked Max’s side to tell him the direction to go in. They came to a dead end and ran into this pond and made it back home, safely. Kevin was a true hero because of his selflessness, and his
In the book Kevin passed away at the hospital, but in the movie Kevin passed away at home. In both someone talk to Max after Kevin died. They were different people though, in the book it was Dr. Spivak and in the movie it was Gwen. In the book before Kevin passed away he gave Max a journal so he could write down all their adventures in it, Max put it in a box. In the movie Kevin gave him a journal and it said Freak the Mighty on the front.
Freak the Mighty the book and The Mighty the movie have many similarities. Max, Kevin (Freak) Gram, Grim, and Gwen are all the main characters. Max and Freak are bullied in both the book and the movie. The ornithopter, a special toy, was played with by Freak and Max. Both boys were pursued by Tony D. and Freak sits on Max’s shoulders. Max has his meeting with the principle, then soon after Freak chokes on food.

to their friendship. Max went from thinking that he did not have a brain until
At the end of the summer in Freak the Mighty, Freak and Max get to go back to school. Minus the fact that he has never been in one before, Max is put into all advanced classes so he can be with Freak. The reason they are put into classes together is because Freak helps Max write and learn vocabulary by making him look up words he doesn’t know in a dictionary. Freak also helps the teachers understand that Max does know the answers but, he just doesn't like to speak in front of the class. Both in school and out, Max helps Freak with mobility by carrying Freak on his shoulders. Max then depends on Freak to tell him where to go, and just focuses on the ground. When Max’s father showed up in the middle of the night to “take Max with him”, Freak does the brave thing of helping the police look for his best friend. As the police find Max and his father, Killer Kane, Kevin stands up tall and sprays Kenny with a concoction that burns when it touches Killer Kane’s eyes. After the struggle is over Kenny Kane is arrested and is sent to jail for the murder of Annie Kane, attempted murder of Loretta Lee, and attempted murder of Maxwell Kane. Many friendships are formed by helping someone in need, like how Freak helped
Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak is an interesting children’s picture book. The main character is a little boy named Max, who has a wild imagination. He uses all five senses as well as thought and his actions to express his personality as well as how he reacts and interacts with his surroundings. Max’s id, ego and super-ego are greatly shown in this book through the way that the author has portrayed him. Not only is this book a children’s story, but it can also be perceived as a life lesson. Many people go through times in their lives when they make drastic decisions right away, such as leaving home. One may enjoy it for the rest of their lives or only for a little while, just like Max who felt lonely after having fun with the monsters. In this case, people end up going home to be with their family where they are not lonely, and can have more time before making a final decision of what should happen next in their life. Id, ego and super- ego is greatly portrayed in this
Dehumanization is the process by which the Nazis gradually reduced the Jews to little more than "things" which were a nuisance to them. The Jews in these concentration camps were greatly disrespected. They experienced several beatings, were undernourished, and overworked. Elie and the other Jews eventually lost faith in God, and witness unpleasant events never to be seen again.
They both don’t have friends and when Kevin came to the town and he was neighbors with Max. That's how it all started.Well Max got a tutor and it was Kevin. Kevin helped Max read at the school to help Max read because needs the help and Kevin a lot doing things to help Max out.
