Audrey, I truly appreciated Congressman McEwen’s analogy and the PIE formula. The evidence provided in the presentations were constructive and provided tools to sharpen critical thinking skills which translate into debating and arguing persuasively. Christians and real Jews are held to higher standards than liberals. Due to original sin, it is challenging for humans to maintain integrity and character; however, it should be a goal to strive to do our best, since our behavior is being scrutinized constantly. Conservatives do respect the unalienable rights of all Americans and extend the philosophy of Compassionate Conservatism to the disenfranchised and the invisible majority (Bush, 2002). Respectively, as voting citizens, I do agree that
In the book “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer, Chris McCandless had many decisions to leave his old life behind and start over. Chris’ decision to leave was justified for the following reasons. When he suddenly disappeared, it made it easier for him to let go of his past and focus on what he wants to do in the future. McCandless could make all his own decisions, nobody had a chance to tell him that he could not leave and certainly did not allow anyone to find out where he was going. Finally he didn’t agree to social norms.
My great-grandfather Vincenzo negotiated Prohibition by fermenting two barrels of wine a year. It was perfectly legal, he insisted. Vincenzo was lucky to be a New Yorker. In her fine history of Prohibition, “The War on Alcohol,” Lisa McGirr, a professor of history at Harvard, shows us that a poor Italian in Illinois or a black man in Virginia might very well have been jailed, shot or sentenced to a chain
Matthew, I agree with you that Coach McElwain’s press conference was effective because he was upfront about Will’s making a mistake, but most importantly in the press conference, Coach McElwain made it known that he along with the team would continue to support Will. In addition, I also agree with you about the Penn State crisis. Consequently, a crisis of that magnitude is unlikely to recover from. I believe that no matter how much the school and the Athletic department do to try to distance itself from the crisis that it will always be connected to the school. Great Post!
Callarman’s argument is that Chris McCandless made a lot of mistakes because he was arrogant and that he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness and he says that he was just crazy. I disagree with Callarman’s argument because I think that Chris McCandless (Alexander Supertramp) was not arrogant I think that he just wanted to learn new things. I also disagree because I think that Chris did have a reason to go to Alaska or else he would not have done it even if it just to go because he likes nature, and I don’t think that he was crazy at the beginning but I agree that he did start to get crazy when he was stuck in the wild on the bus. I don’t think that Chris is arrogant I think that he is just a guy who wants to learn new things about nature and just the world in general.
Wisconsin’s First Congressional District Representative, Paul Ryan, is also the current Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. He is serving his tenth year in the House at forty-seven years old. He resides in his home state of Wisconsin where he graduated from Joseph A. Craig High School. Ryan attended Miami University where he earned his degree in economics and political science. Following college, he moved to Washington D.C. to work for the Hill and to aide Senator Bob Kasten.
Various casinos have now changed course by supporting legalized Internet poker, albeit as long as they can monopolize the industry. The industry initially tried to crush their competition, but the market grew in size despite high profile prosecutions. Accordingly, it should be no surprise that Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), a long time darling of the casino industry, changed his opinion on the issue in line with casino industry. “Rent-A-Senator” Reid had opposed Internet poker in the past but switched course in 2010.
In particular Chris Mccandless should be supported for he had things happen to him that led up to the point where he wanted to go into the wild to get away from his old life and created a new one for himself to have more opportunities. Others may think he shouldn’t be supported just because he some bad flaws he had and also that he just left his sister who he actually got along with, but here are some reasons that are logical and reasonable to why Chris Mccandless should be supported. One of the reasons why readers should support Chris McCandless is because he is generous, he gave people inspiration, or felt inspired by others, and like in the book Krakauer tells us “Chris’s Father suggested the boy had probably been inspired. ”(94),his way of living inspired everyone that you can live anyway you want.
Into the wild is a book written by Jon Krakauer. There is also a movie directed by sean penn. The main character is chris mccandless. He goes on a fool's trip running away from society and ended up dead in alaska. Shaun callarman says he was bright and ignorant at the same time.
Senator Jackie Speier, Representative from California 's 14th District, has a solid history in Congress. She currently serves on many Legislative Committees; Armed Services, Oversight and Government Reform, Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Subcommittee on Military Personnel, Subcommittee on NSA and Cybersecurity, and Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations (Armed Services). Within this year alone she has only been absent or abstained from a National Key vote six times out of 50. My perception of Senator Speier’s congressional performance is optimistic and confident.
I disagree that the Constitution is an “agreement with Hell,” because although there may be some sections that aren't ideal, the American Constitution is remarkable because it has the ability to change and adapt to the times. William Lloyd Garrison, a famous abolitionist, proposed that all states that don't keep slaves should secede from the Union because he felt that the Constitution heavily supported slavery. His argument is now not valid because the Constitution has been amended, and now slavery is illegal. No one today could claim that the United States as a nation supports slavery. William Wells Brown, a former slave, also advocated for the nullification of the Constitution.
When it comes to all 3 men's opinions I find it very clear that some arguments have more reliability than others. Take Andrew Ure's argument for example. Ure was a Scottish doctor and scientist who toured many factory towns and wrote about the positivity that they bring. " I never saw a single instance of corporal chastisement inflicted on a child, nor indeed did I ever see children in ill-humor. They seemed to be always cheerful and alert" On the other hand both James Kay's and Robert Owen's arguments seem reliable.
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.
I will outline the argument put forth by father Luis Jayme for support being sent from the Franciscian church to aid both neothytes (Indian converts to Christianity) and gentiles (non-converted Indians), who are allegedly subject to rape from the Portuguese soldiers. Father Jayme Is sympathetic towards the native Indians who he believes act in a better nature than that of the Portuguese soldiers. In summary, Jayme notes of his own Spanish Christians, he writes "I burst into tears to see how these neophytes were setting an example for us Christians"1. The outrageous acts of rape performed by the soldiers referencing personal accounts given to him by the native Americans as his main source of evidence. "some soldiers went their and raped their women .....
“If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” ―Maya Angelou. Jon Krakauer’s true story titled Into the Wild is about a man who decides to throw away his old life and escape the rules of conventional society. Twenty-two-year-old Chris McCandless came from a well-to-do family in Virginia and, without warning, abandons everything. He changes his name, loses contact with his family, gives away his car and all his money, and begins a two-year long journey hitchhiking to Alaska where he eventually dies of starvation.
Everyone should be given the right to vote no matter what the
