Psychology behind Connecticut school shooting The Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut is one of the most devastating mass shootings that has occurred in the US. Adam Lanza is the man who massacred 20 children and 6 adults after committing matricide following up with his suicide, with a semi-automatic rifle. Police have announced that Adam had been diagnosed with Asperger 's a form of autism, as well as prior issues with being bullied during elementary schooling. Parents have been left devastated and the rest baffled at Adam 's spontaneous behavior.
