This is an essay examines the risks of smoking to our health and mainly illustrates about the opposition of people’s argument that reasons with evidence for them to not smoke. Most people that reasons with this arguments started smoking when they were still in their teenage years. It is true that smoking in certain groups of people engage social interaction with one another; this leads into a potentially healthy social lifestyle especially to those of a growing adolescent (aside from smoking itself). Also, it is true that most people find smoking to be a form of stress relieve. According to maclaster.edu, it is said that intake of the substance nicotine (which are abundant in cigarettes) multiplies the level of a naturally occurring hormone that is formulated in our bodies called dopamine. Roughly speaking, dopamine is responsible in maintaining “happiness level” of an individual; smoking cigarette increases dopamine’s concentration in our body which in turn relieves stress. Also, a person who smokes cigarettes with menthol experience heightened sense of relaxation provided with menthol’s therapeutically cooling properties (NCBI).
