The possibility of the existence of extraterrestrial life has been a topic of discussion and speculation for many years. While no concrete evidence has been found to confirm or deny its existence, there is one location that has been shrouded in secrecy and conspiracy theories: Area 51. Area 51 is a United States military base located in southern Nevada. The installation is home to many conspiracies concerning extraterrestrial life, however it has only been confirmed as a flight testing facility. The conspiracy theories on Area 51 started in the late 1980s, when a man who claimed to work at the installation said he spotted the government examining a recovered alien spacecraft. Area 51 is located near Groom Lake in the southern Nevada desert, seventy-five miles north of Las Vegas. It is connected to the now abandoned Nevada Test and Training Range. In the 1950s at this range, more than 100 atmospheric bomb tests took place. The base is administered in Southern California by Edwards Air Force Base. During World War II, the base was mainly used for nuclear and weapons testing. When the Cold War rolled around, the CIA began developing spy planes, and in 1955 the Lockheed aircraft designer selected the secret airfield as their headquarters. This is when the base was officially added to the Nevada Test Site map, where it was labeled Area 51. Soon after this, the U-2 aircraft was introduced, and for years the base continued to be a spy plane testing area. Area 51 started off in April 1955 as an ideal spot for building and testing U-2 planes. However, in 1958 the land was taken from public use, and in 1978 it was transferred to the Air Force. The official name of the base was the Nevada Test and Training Range, but it also went by several nicknames such as “Paradise Ranch” and “Dreamland.” These nicknames were used to make the area sound more pleasant for potential employee (Britannica). The name Area 51 is rarely used by the government and it most likely came from the area’s original designation. Area 51 was not officially …show more content…

The information here proves that it is very possible there is extraterrestrial life being hidden at this base. At this time, there isn’t really any argument as to why Area 51 is so secretive, so that directly points to the government hiding something big. Plus, it has to be known that the UFOs seen flying near Area 51 are indeed alien related because it has been noted that some of the flying saucers were flying at heights higher than any plane that was currently at the base. It’s also proven that there are multiple real stories told from not only civilians but Area 51 workers that have claimed seeing or working with alien life. These stories could not be unproven. Knowing that even most of the military isn’t even allowed to know about Area 51 or enter it adds to the point that the government is hiding something significant. Even if it isn’t aliens, we know that there is something being hidden from us. Whether it’s advanced technology like time travel, or in fact extraterrestrial life, we still don’t know, and most likely won’t know for many
