Different Contexts of Entrepreneurship For my final assignment in Principles and Practises of Entrepreneurship, I am going to discuss an area of entrepreneurship that is connected to my area of study. The area that I am going to discuss is Technology Entrepreneurship. Technology Entrepreneurship is separate from other entrepreneurial backgrounds such as social or green entrepreneurship. It can be differentiated by the huge leaps and advances, brought about in part through fraternization, in technological and scientific areas of research. Collaboration has enabled this field to generate knowledge that has allowed the blossoming of new products, features and resources as well as the awareness of ownership rights. She strives for success and her continued efforts to network within her local community prove that she has an entrepreneurial mind-set and spirit and I learned a great deal from her contribution. The final speaker was Dr Steve Collins. He is a trained medical worker and has worked in famines and warzones across the world. Although he described himself as an introvert by nature, I found him to be the most interesting and outgoing of the speakers, demonstrating how one can be driven by a particular passion to become an entrepreneur. This is something that all four speakers have in common. He is the founder of two companies, both of which combat malnutrition and are called Valid International and Valid Nutrition. He is a social entrepreneur who is not deterred by setbacks. He agreed to speak at the IT Tralee with a view to networking with soon to be graduates, for a company he is developing. I have developed new skills, such as how to actively participate in group work, also how to voice my opinions and to push myself forward within a group setting, instead of shying away from taking part. My presentation skills have improved also, which is allowing me to move forward with confidence in my abilities. I also learned about different types of entrepreneurship, such as social and technological entrepreneurs and I realised that we can act entrepreneurially on a daily basis whether it is in college, the workplace or social situations. I also learned about the Predictive Index and how it applies to me which has helped me to realise the areas I need to work on but also areas that I naturally excel in. I believe that participating in this module has brought our class group together through continued group exercises as well as group projects, like presentations, where we had the opportunity to encourage each other and also to learn from one
