4.0 TYPES OF THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES FOR DOWN SYNDROME

4.1 COOKING Cooking is the application of heat to food in various ways (Nollet, 2012). According to (Corinda Presley, 2012), cooking is one of the most useful, motivating, and universal activities that it can be as simple or as complex as it would be. Cooking as a therapeutic activity can help Down Syndrome patient in improving their communication skills and facilitate language learning (Cummings, 2008). Project such as cooking is providing an overarching structure for the group sessions. The cooking activity such as making fun shaped pancakes can began by asking one patient to read the directions on the box and someone else follow the directions as they are being read. Use photograph-like recipe (Rynders, 1996)
-to help the Down Syndrome patient who have difficulty to follow a written recipe, drawings or photograph shoud be attached to recipes.
-each photograph will illustrate the individual performing a step of the cooking activity, it can be helpful and enjoyable at the same time.
-in addition, make a big size of recipes to enable the patients to see clearly. 2. Use adapted scissors (Gregoire, A Parent's Guide to Learning About Down Syndrome, 2010) -Down Syndrome patients have hypotonic or weak muscle and they are unable to cut ingredients or things normally. -So, this adapted scissor makes cutting easier for children with special needs as it will open automatically with little pressure. -It also improves fine motor development.

3. One Touch Can Opener (Floyd, 2014) -This can opener is easy to use with just pressing the button on the top of the can opener to start it. -It is good for individuals who have lack of coordination, strength, or gripping
