Co- operative Bank
A cooperative or co-operative is an autonomous association of people who voluntarily cooperate for their mutual social, economic, and cultural benefit. Cooperatives include non-profit community organizations and businesses that are owned and managed by the people who use their services or by the people who work there.
The orientations of commercial organization and co-operative organizations are basically different. In a commercial organization, earning and maximizing the profits is the sole motive, whereas in a co-operative organization profit cannot be the sole motive. They finance small borrowers in industrial and trade sectors besides professional and salary classes. Regulated by the Reserve Bank of India, they are governed by the Banking Regulations Act 1949 and banking laws (co-operative societies) act, 1965. The co-operative banking structure in India is divided into following 5 categories:
Primary Co-operative Credit Society
The primary co-operative credit society is an association of borrowers and non-borrowers residing in a particular locality. The funds of the society are derived from the share capital and deposits of members and loans from central co-operative banks. The borrowing powers of the members as well as of the society are fixed. The loans are given to members for the purchase of cattle, fodder, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.
Central Co-operative Banks
These are the federations of primary credit societies in a district and are of two types-those having a membership of primary societies only and those having a membership of societies as well as individuals. The funds of the bank consist of share capital, deposits, loans and overdrafts from state co-operative banks and joint stocks. These banks provide finance to member societies within the limits of the borrowing capacity of societies. They also conduct all the business of a joint stock

One difference is taxation. C corporations are separate taxable entities. They file a corporate tax return and pay taxes at the corporate level. They also face the possibility of double taxation if corporate income is distributed to business owners as dividends, which are considered personal income. Tax on corporate income is paid first at the corporate level and again at the individual level on dividends.
The closest co-op to me is the Farm Services (FS) in Reynolds. Farmers who purchase crop inputs, such as seed and fertilizer, benefit from cooperatives because they are able to get great products from a local distributor. The farmers are also at an advantage because the cooperatives can provide personalized services and expertise to help their customers. The convenient and quality services provided by a Co-op contribute to the local farmer’s profitability. This leads the farmer to have extra funds to hire more help, keeping more jobs local.

Judging from the article I read I see the term Robber Barons as a perfectly used term. Before the Civil War people were more of a locally relying group. In the process of the Civil war taking place you start having these men that see an opportunity to making small businesses into big corporations. Now, I did say that the term Robber Baron was over used, but I do believe there was a rise of Robber Baron’s in that time period.
