Question 1.2 The level of responsibility In learning, learners rely on the guidance, assistance and support from their educators that they feel secure from participating in the teaching-learning circumstances and finally come to be independent. ‘The learners’ level of maturity eventually determines the certain leadership state that a learner would be responsible to part-take in’ (Louw & Du toit, 2010). Although, it is a challenge to educators to understand and deal with the differences of learners in approach to their schoolwork. Coetzee & van Niekerk (2015) claim that learners’ personalities and preferences regarding schoolwork vary. Cooperative learning can be defined as a team approach to learning where each member of the group is dependent on the member to accomplish a specific learning task or assignment (UNISA, 2010). The level of responsibility from the individual learners can be assessed by the overall success of the group-work that depend up on each member of the group. Coetzee (2006) believe that this sense of interdependence and teamwork leads to increase in academic achievement for most learners, and also has the added benefit of providing opportunities for learners to improve their socialization skills and become more aware of and sensitive to cultural diversity among learners. Cooperative learning demands for communication, trust leadership and conflict resolution skills. The educator as a leader should monitor the learner’s behavior, sharing work with other groups and reflecting on the group learning experience. At the end of the day, the responsibility for the group lies with each member for example, if a problem arise, each member exercise an effort toward solving the problem. Educators or any other classroom manager should uphold all learners’ rights to freedom of religion, belief and opinion. There should be consistence with values such as equity, no undermining and unfair discrimination. FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION (Section 16) In school context, educators and learners has the freedom to receive or impact information or ideas, the freedom of artistic creativity, academic freedom and freedom to scientific research. It also protects free expression and not only free speech. Conclusion Being a leader is part of the work of an educator not only in progress of schoolwork but provide leadership to parents and colleagues in various contexts. Educators with good leadership skills, therefore know where they want to lead their learners and they establish circumstances that contribute towards a positive climate of learning. It is the basic management responsibility of the educator in learning environment to create a favorable circumstance that is characterized by order and a positive climate in which learning and teaching can take place
