Cane In The Classroom Analysis

Use of the cane in classes. There are not many more divisive subjects in education in Thailand. It is an emotional issue that spurs anger on both sides in discussion. This paper looks at this timely issue and whether or not it is illegal and what the penalty is. Then it looks at why it is still used by teachers and has been accepted by society. Is corporal punishment here to stay or is there a way to either lessen or eradicate its use. The paper finishes on recommending what will have to happen in order to reduce the use and increase the effect of other styles of punishment in classes and schools.

Add into the mix that teachers are not taught how to control the classes and just thrown in difficulties start to rise. In the past students were taught to respect their teachers no matter as they were with all adults. With western culture invading their minds that respect is diminishing. Making a student stand in the corner or anything that might embarrass them in front of their peers is now looked at with pride.
