I am interested in becoming a correctional senior case analyst. A senior case analyst within the Department of Corrections in North Carolina oversees other case analysts and ensures that the security level and program recommendations for inmates who are coming into the prison system are appropriate for each individual. The process involves reviewing the files of each inmate after they have been interviewed by a case analyst and what their recommendations are for programs and level of security facility the inmate should be sent to within the North Carolina prison system. Senior case analysts also oversee the psychological and intellectual testing of inmates; these results are also used in placing the inmates within the prison system and deciding which programs would be beneficial to the individual. Examples of programs available are Alcoholic’s Anonymous, GED classes, Community Work Programs, and Transitional programs.
I find this job particularly fascinating due to the high level of analytical skilled needed and the ability to work well with other people in order to achieve the common goal of a safer society. I originally wanted to assist families within my community, but quickly learned that many of the parents were in jail or prison. I understood that the only way to help my community was to help those who have become involved in the criminal justice system. After looking at the career options and speaking

Life In Prison by Reilly was an exceptional read and the information was fairly recent while the last year he was a correctional officer in 2007. Reilly has been a correctional officer for a little over 6 years and while in those six years he has worked at two different prisons; a prison in Pennsylvania and Maine State Prison. Since these were both high security prisons, these offenders ranged from 20-65 years old, some older than that, race varied but predominantly black, both of these prisons had well over 900 inmates that includes around 800 males and over 100 females. These crimes that inmates committed were all felonies, with ranging from drug distribution to murderers. The next book is Inside: Life Behind Bars In America by Santos.
The “Clang of Incarceration” is the first thing an officer hears when he or she come to work on the George Beto Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as the front gate closes behind them. It can be a sound of trepidation when an officer is starting their day as they enter the sally port that are two gates to get inside the unit. Plastered on the walls of the unit are the core values of the agency; Perseverance, Integrity, Courage and Commitment in solid black letters as if they are screaming the words. The words are a sign of encouragement when the officers go into this type of negative atmosphere but most of the TDCJ officers absolutely love the job they do.
Hello Everyone. I am looking forward to getting my degree and working as an parole officer in the state of Texas. This has always interested me since I was working in a jail some years back. I would see parole officers come in and some would actually talk to us about going to school and becoming parole officers. Since I also have about 7 plus years of experience in corrections for the state prison system I would be qualified to be on a parole board at a prison.
I enrolled in this class to get a better understanding of being a probation officer. My educational goal is to graduate with my associate degree and then transfer to get my bachelor’s degree. My career goal is to help people who are struggling and be able to find solutions to their problems. I want to work with teenagers and help prevent them from going to jail, or prison in the future.
A mission statement provides a succinct definition of why the organization exists and what it hopes to achieve” (2002, p.2). Initially, the purpose of the prison is house and rehabilitate the inmates that have been sentenced to service their time there for the crimes they have committed. However when Warden Norton reveals his inside-out program, which was a program he developed to take the inmates outside the prison to essentially work for the state on various jobs of the Wardens choosing. The Warden describes his program as “a genuine, progressive advance in corrections and rehabilitation” (1994). At this point Warden Norton reveals the prison’s new mission statement as “providing a valuable service to the community and at a bare minimum of expense to Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Taxpayer” (1994).
There are many things you can do in order to pursue a criminal justice career, information needed is as follows: salary information, past job transitions , interviews, and educational requirements. Federal, State, County, and local levels are where criminal justice careers are available. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics states that in 2016, around three million workers were in the criminal justice field. There are other jobs within the criminal justice system, such as corrections officer, homeland security, and working as private security for events. In today’s society women are more common in the criminal justice field rather than men who would have been seen as dominant in past times in history.

There are many colleges for this job, this one just stood out the most to me. There are many skills required to become a Probation Officer. One of these skills would include the ability to know when to communicate-written, verbal, and body language.
Students in the criminal justice department are taught that our main objective in the justice system and our careers is to serve and also protect those involved in our community. For as long as I can remember, my goal in life has been to provide service by protecting and serving those who are close to me. My penchant for service is what eventually led me to the Criminal Justice program at Valdosta State University. This passion for service began at a very young age when my life was turned upside down when I relocated from Puerto Rico to the state of Georgia due to a tragic car accident that led to the end of my father’s life. This sudden change of lifestyle and heartbreak came with an extreme amount of struggle and culture shock not just
I will also provide detailed examples of each of those roles in action within the law enforcement, corrections and court system environments. Furthermore, the parole system is known to have a multitude of problems laced within it, these problems can be solved by focusing on parolee and parole officer relationships, and partaking in systems that improve the underlying issues. Following through to fix these affairs may seem unrealistic, but a solution could be in sight. Issues within the parole system in the United States include the ineffectivity of parolees meeting with their supervising
This does not mean I am opposed to it, however, as I feel I could do well in this field. My first option at this moment is to work in Computer Technology, with a focus on Virtual Reality. Becoming a CO would be a nice ‘Plan B’ to have just in case. To be honest, I didn 't expect to learn anything I didn 't already know about correctional institutions.
