Plastic surgery is the process of rebuilding or repairing parts of the body by the transfer of tissue, either in the treatment of injury or for cosmetic reasons. But usually people go through plastic surgery just because they want to feel better about their appearance and confident when facing other people. Some people are willing to sacrifice their wealth to go under the knife. According to statistic provided by the American Society for Plastic Surgery, “People spend more than $13 billion a year on a variety of aesthetic surgical treatments for the face, breast and body”. Nerve damage often occurs when a surgeon cut, stretched or cauterized the patient’s nerves while completing a surgery. Nerve damage can cause partial or total loss of feeling at certain parts of the body or we may call it as numbness. If a nerve is severely damage, the effects may be permanent. Generally, the nerve damage can last not more than one year. Odunze states that anyone who considers taking parts in plastic surgery must be aware that nerve damage is a serious complication. He also said that the dreaded complication of permanent nerve damage is the nightmare of every plastic surgeon. He added that “most nerve injuries are temporary, any loss of function, no matter how fleeting, generates sleepless nights for your surgeon, Even when your surgeon provides the "standard of care," nerve injuries can happen. (Odunze.M, 2011). Furthermore, if a nerve related to muscle movement is not functioning well, weakness of certain muscles may be experiences. It can be treated with reconstructive surgery, reconstructive surgery is generally performed to improve the nerve function. However, if nerve is simply stretched, normal function will return in six to eight weeks without needing a reconstructive
