The Courage of People Everyone is able to have courage, but only a few have the audacity to choose it. At some point in your life, you will have to decide if you will choose courage, or embrace fear. The few who choose courage are the people who change the world. They defy fear, destroy terror, and beat down hate. These people rise above everyone else to challenge the impossible. They are the true heroes who do everything they can to fight for what they believe, and for the people they represent. If you take a minute to think about examples of courage, you will find many people that come to mind. There are three people that come to my mind that have displayed great courage, and they are activist Malala Yousafzai, former british Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and US Navy veteran (Also my amazing grandpa) Hugh Lawrence. Malala Yousafzai - When activist Malala Yousafzai was just a child, she fought for women’s education. She was born July 12, 1997 in Mingora, Pakistan. In the first years of her life she enjoyed the town’s popular summer festivals. That changed when the Taliban invaded and took control of the area in 2007. She was only 10 years old at the time. When the Taliban began attacking girls’ schools in her area, she gave a speech in Peshawar, Pakistan, in September 2008, about how she felt about the Taliban’s actions. The man demanded to know which girl was Malala. When her friends looked at Malala, her identity was given away. The man fired at her. A bullet hit the left side of her head and then travelled down her neck. The shooting left Malala in critical condition. She was flown to a military hospital, where part of her skull had to be removed in order to help treat the swelling of her brain.
