I believe I have a lot to bring to the positions I am applying for. I’ve been in positions across multiple clubs on campus that I think could bring a lot of relevant skills and experiences. For Financial Affairs, I am currently the treasurer of another community service organization on campus known as the Surfrider Foundation. Though Surfrider, I also handle all of the budgeting for our events as well as being the primary contact for the ASUC. Through that as well, I am also in charge of our fundraising initiatives similarly to the Financial Affairs Position. Through the Cal Alumni Association, I also have a lot of experience talking to outside sources for sponsorships and partnerships. For example, this past semester, I was in charge of acquiring partnerships for a large upcoming event known as the Overnight Stay Program for Incoming Freshman. Through this initiative, I’ve been in constant contact with companies like the Bank of the West, the University Partnerships Program, the actual University, and many local small businesses as well. …show more content…
Being a previous site leader, I think I have a lot of perspective of exactly what kinds of Site Leaders we should be looking for as well as being able to properly manage them. If there was anything that I really loved about being a site leader was the Site Leader Orientation itself. I remember meeting a lot of friends there that I still talk to and overall having an awesome yet informational time. A lot of the things that volunteering committee handles is a lot of logistical organizing. While a lot of my club experiences have helped me organize events such as what volunteer does, I think I can learn a lot from being a Volunteer director knowing the huge caliber in which it has to

Throughout my life, I have been quite active in several organizations. The first club I joined was the Hamlet Handy Helpers 4-H Club. As my project, I rented a farm and raised corn and soybeans with the goal to earn enough money to pay for my college education. I have learned a lot about business, finance, and agronomy through my 4-H projects. I have also learned how to confidently deliver speeches during the club meetings.
One of the most important leadership roles I’ve had is being Editor and Chief of the Yearbook, The Pinnacle, committee at Pikesville High. Being the Editor and Chief requires creativity, communication, collaboration, patience, and responsibility. Prior to becoming the Editor in Chief I was just a part of the committee for two years. My sophomore year was my first year in Yearbook and I was just learning about the in’s and Out’s about how to create a successful yearbook. I learned all the fundamentals like how to interview people and how to write interesting stories called Body Copy’s for any sport, club, or event.

Through the National Student Leadership Conference, I will be marching out of my comfort zone and learning qualities that will aid me in becoming a better leader. I have a lot of experience in leadership especially since I started JROTC and have moved up in it in only two years. I have learned many different skills that a leader needs to have, and I have put many of those skills into practice. I have helped organize events and run entire events with the help of a team. The reason that I feel that leadership and service go hand in hand is the fact that you can’t serve without having qualities that a good leader needs to have. You need to be able to take responsibility if you are going to serve.
I am looking for more than just academics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During my four years at Northwood High School, I became involved in numerous academic and extracurricular activities. As a result, I have been recognized and honored for achievements both inside and outside of school. I realize that titles and academic achievements are limited, but some of the impact I have on my community and other people’s lives is what really matters. Therefore, I plan to continue my active involvement in extracurricular activities while I am a college student.
Joining this organization would allow me to grow as an individual in school and outside of school, and as a person. I believe I show many great qualities that demonstrate the four pillars that this organization stands by Leadership, Character, Service, and Scholarship.
I have attended several leadership camps and seminars, but there is always room for improvement in regards to leadership abilities. Having a higher leadership role than what I already have will significantly improve my knowledge of leadership and better refine the leadership skills that I already have. There are a lot of

The skills I have gained over the course of the year will help me towards my main career goal in mind, professional.
