They both understand that communication and compromise are essential for success. They focus on understanding and supporting each other as they face obstacles. Rachel and Daphne have committed to making their relationships a priority and are doing their best to make time for each other despite the challenges of their families or their partners. Daphne was willing to sacrifice a life with no children because she believed it was "Better to live with the man she loved than to have children with one she didn't" (Quinn 231). Daphne even explains how Simon could never hurt her despite Simon's explanation as to why he can't marry (Quinn 208). In contrast, Rachel realizes how much she misses Nick being around and decided to not let her pride get in the way of her love for Nick. She even explains how she "didn't realize how much [she would] miss having Nick next to [her] at night" (Kwan 530). Additionally, both Daphne and Rachel understand that both of their dreams are equally important and strive to find a balance between them. They demonstrate that through strong communication and respect, relationships can be made stronger despite of what they have to deal with. When both Daphne and Simon were in the garden they were able to break down the barriers between them. This created an environment where they could share their feelings, learn to trust each other, and ultimately develop a strong bond, Simon even thought to himself that "he wasn't going to be able to have her this night-- he wasn't able to have her ever, and he needed to make this touch last him a life time" (Quinn 196). This moment of closeness and understanding was essential for them to form an intimate connection. It was a turning point in their relationship as it enabled them to be open and honest with each other. This ultimately allowed them to form a deep and meaningful bond. Apart from this, Nick tries his hardest to protect the relationship and explains "I don't give a damn about what my family thinks- I want to be with you, Rachel" (Kwan 508). This demonstrates that Nick is willing to go against his family's wishes to be with Rachel. This shows his commitment to her, and solidifies the strong bond they have formed. Rachel is touched by this gesture, and it becomes clear that Nick has a profound respect for her. This further cements their relationship, and it is evident that their bond is strong and

This quote is a bias opinion of himself. Nick is not a trusting source because the novel is all told by his point of view. The audience just assumes he’s being honest, because not much is known about him when he comes into town. Catherine tells Nick “It’s really his wife that’s keeping them apart.
Nick is a very timid and submissive character who keeps crucial information to himself which keeps Daisy married to Tom. “We’re getting off.” Tom tells Nick what to do without any consent from him “I want you to meet my girl.” Tom doesn’t have any respect for Daisy Buchanan, his wife, and Nick just sits by and watches it happen. With a solid income, and no real need for material wealth, Nick is similarly able to pursue his dating life in a nonchalant manner. After getting to know each other for a period of time, Nick states, “She is incurably dishonest. She wasn’t able to be at a disadvantage” (58). Nick is able to look past the wealth and fame of Jordan and view her for the person she is. The two part romantic ways towards the end of the novel.
Her completely refuses to believe that this is now her life. Her way of coping with the Congo is trying to cling to anything that reminds her of home. Rachel never fully connects with any of the Congolese people, and finds it absolutely revolting about the idea that the Chief wants her as a wife.

When Rachel is doing terrible things (like stealing money and buying a plane ticket) for a good reason, we can truly see how hope can change our minds to do even the worst things. And by ignoring what her mom says and forgiving her immature father, Rachel shows us all how everybody deserves a second chance. So next time you have a decision to make, think about this; don’t do something just because you hope something good will come out of it and remember that forgiving is sometimes the only way to move
