“I know what I need,” Sam growled as he slammed the door shut behind him, shrugging off his coat and tossing it onto the nearby chair. The thunder rumbled outside, rain pounding against the window panes. Both of them had gotten soaked just walking from the car to the room two cities away from where they had planned to stop. “And what’s that? Me to be a good little girl and never go outside ever again?” Colleen snapped, continuing their argument from the car. “I can’t control how other people act, Samuel. Try and tone down your jealousy just a bit. Green isn’t a good shade on you.” “I’m not jealous,” Sam turned to face her, taking a deep breath so his shirt strained against his chest. “If I wasn’t in complete control of my emotions they would both be in the hospital right now. Who speaks like that to someone they don’t even know? It was vile, disgusting, inappropriate-” “And nothing I haven’t heard before,” Colleen cut him off, tugging off her wet shirt and throwing it over the television to dry. She was too agitated to take the time and hang it up. Goosebumps formed on her skin as she stood there in her bra wringing out her hair. She loved Sam, she did, but he acted like she needed to be protected from every little thing. Usually she found it endearing, though slightly annoying, but this time he had taken it a bit overboard. They had gone out to eat without the group, wanting to have a little date of their own. Colleen had gone to the bathroom while Sam went to pay in the mostly empty restaurant. She was still in her FBI get up, though she had left the suit jacket in the car and had unbuttoned some of the dress shirt buttons. She felt the eyes of the guys in the back booth on her and heard the low wolf whistles, but ignored them. Sam anticipated this, it was always her first move due to their height difference, and blocked it. He reached out to bear hug her, using his height and muscles against her. She slipped away from his grasp, kicking her heels off to move around easier and taking off her glass so they didn’t get broken. That had happened before. Sam wasn’t in the mood to draw this out, so he moved in for the kill. However, Colleen was serious about proving that she could get him down. Neither of them was sure what exactly happened, but they both tumbled onto the floor. Colleen quickly rolled them over so that she was straddling him, her hands on his wrists, which she moved above his head. “What was that about letting me take you down all those times?” Colleen shook her hair so that it was to the side and looked down at him. Cold little droplets of water fell on his chest. They both knew that if Sam wanted to, he could overpower her easily, but he let her sit there over top of him for a while. While he was pretty good at staying focused when their spared, mostly because Colleen made him pay if he didn’t, he always got distracted when she straddled him. She leaned down, but when Sam parted his lips to kiss her, she turned her head to the side and kissed his cheek. She let go of his wrists and sat up, moving to get off of
