The story of Antigone by Sophocles is a tragic drama. It mostly consists of Antigone, the daughter of Oedipus, and Creon, Queen Jocasta’s brother. The story of Antigone is very devastating because most of the characters in the story die including Antigone. Antigone is very similar to Oedipus Rex because it a drama about a tragic hero. The question is, who is the tragic hero in Antigone? Although, the tragic hero is often debated and no one has come to an agreement on who it is, the answer to the question is very simple. The tragic hero of Antigone by Sophocles is Creon. Creon is the person who possesses a tragic flaw that leads to downfall. Creon is the son of Menoeceus and brother of Queen Jocasta who had ruled Thebes but committed suicide
