The system allows the user to store data and help on their related work like to investigate, survey, evidence checking etc. With the use of the QR Code they can store and hide their files in a small space and save storage space for further files. (Waxman, 2008) The World Trade Center attacks of 2011 prompted new urgency at the local level and the rapid advancement of technology has reformed the way local authorities fight crime. Creating beneficial resources such as the Real-time Crime Center, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and the Special Operations Center, New York City has pioneered the way for its police department to become a leading force in the war on crime. New York’s Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) is an information technology hub providing three key elements to record keeping: data warehouse, data analysis, and data wall. Eliminating the need for paper reports and having an all-in-one data center puts invaluable information in the officers’ hands in mere seconds which affords police officers much needed additional time to solve crime.
The phrase “Lock them up and throw away the key” is often used when referring to those who have committed a crime. This phrase means that the person that did the crime should be placed in jail for a long period of time if not the rest of their lives. The theory or idea of locking individuals up and throwing away the key being effective when dealing with social control is really not effective at all. For some no matter the sentencing given to them, when set free, they will return back to the lifestyle that sent them to jail in the first place. Studies show that the minimum sentences for certain crimes, are not likely to accomplish their goal of discouraging and preventing organized crime.
Using the existing bureau structure which comprises the North Command Bureau; which overlooks districts 4, 5, and 7; Central Command Bureau, which overlooks districts 1, 3, and the Neighborhood Task Force; the South Command Bureau, which overlooks districts 2, 6 and the Office of Community Outreach & Education, along with the Investigations and Intelligence Bureau. Utilizing this existing command structure the Investigations and Intelligence Bureau will be tasked with the primary oversight of the program! The emphasis on the initiative is to focus on utilizing the crime control theory which states that crime rates rise when punishment is not feared so making punishments more severe and control offenders as well as the focus on justice should be on the
The reliability of official statistics, especially through documents based on police data, can be hindered by a number of limitations. As police data is one of the main sources of data looked at when studying statistics, the limitations revolve around the reporting and recording of the crimes. There are instances in which the official crime statistics do not reflect the precise crime rates. (Ross, 1999) Misrepresentation can be caused by a number of different factors.
In the early 1990’s programmers were able to develop software that tracks and provides timely analysis of criminal activity called COMPSTAT (COMPuter STATistics). This analysis has enabled police departments to tailored their responses to the data and rapidly deploy officers and resources to deter criminal activity. An accountability structure is vital to ensuring the analysis is acted upon and the responses are implemented properly and assess whether their responses were effective in reducing crime and disorder (Weisburd, Mastrofski, McNally, Greenspan, & Willis, 2003). COMPSTAT’s success has been widely touted, and its model has been broadly shared throughout police departments across the United States’. The COMPSTAT tool has enabled police departments to not only predict crime but deter crime before it occurs and properly assign officers to quickly respond to the threats when they occur.
The Process of the Criminal Justice System There is an order to the process of criminal justice. According to the Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC) (2012), the criminal judicial system is composed of law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, defense attorneys, the court system, and corrections. Law enforcement officers investigate crimes. Once law enforcement officers have conducted their investigations and have arrested the person they believe is the person that committed the crime, the process moves to the prosecution. A prosecutor gets assigned to the case, and the prosecutor 's office has the task of presenting evidence proving the guilt of the person arrested.
It is a known fact that the best way to control crime is cooperation between civilians and law enforcement. In recent years, the trust

In a CSI crime case investigation, a young 5- year old girl was murdered at a restaurant/play land that was surrounded by her parents and children. The mom of the young girl kept making sure the daughter stayed in her sight when she was playing in the ball pen. A play truck happened to role on to the mother’s foot that caused her to become distracted and lose sight of her daughter. In the matter of seconds when she lifted her head she noticed her daughter disappeared from the ball pit. She had one of the workers completely shut the restaurant down and lock the doors so nobody could exit.
The criminal justice system is comprised of a myriad of steps for the purpose of bringing those responsible for committing crimes to justice. There are three primary categories which make up the criminal justice system. The first category is the “Police”, who are responsible for determining the type and magnitude of the potential crime and if it did indeed occur. They will begin by investigating to determine who is involved in the crime. Once the investigation reveals the identity of the perpetrator(s) then they will seek out those responsible for the purpose of arresting them for the crimes they are accused of committing.
The organization of criminal law enforcement is one of the primary causes for the United States’ inability to develop satisfactory criminal statistics. The individual law enforcement agencies use different methods to gather data which may be inconsistent or even inaccurate. The greater the number of reporting agencies, the greater will be the variation in the interpretation, reliability, and consistency of reports submitted, and the greater will be the difficulty of supervising or editing these reports (Ronald H. Beattie,
We encounter evidence of both consensus and conflict models at all stages of the system.
