A short note on the author and a brief summary of the play William Shakespeare (26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616) was an English poet and playwright and widely, recognized as the greatest writer in the English literature for many reasons. He is often named England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon”. He is believed to have written around 38 plays , 154 sonnets , two long narrative poems , a few other verses , the authorship of some of which is still doubtful. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed on the stage. Macbeth is supposed to have been penned down in 1606, whose short story is below : Excess of everything is bad. So is the matter with over-ambition. Tragedy keeps coming your way and in the end kills you too. Macbeth is a play that apparently shows the upshot of over-ambition. He places his faith in the prophecies of the three witches . According to the first prophecy he will be the Thane of Cawdor. His wife Lady Macbeth fuels his desire by provoking him to kill the king. After a series of hesitations , he slays the king . The biggest reason behind this murder or those ones to follow , is Lady Macbeth who not only eggs him on but also makes sure his resolve doesn’t weaken.
