The Evaluation of The Outsiders as a form YAL The novel, The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton is a harsh, realist portrayal of teenage life lived by real people with real problems. Although never mentioned in the book, the setting is based in Oklahoma. The vague setting of the book provides a dangerous, scary, disturbing, fun, intriguing and heart warming background. The book was controversial for it did not feature the common, light hearted, happy ending story that most young adult literature books had.
At the same time, advocacy is fundamental to any social work position. Knowing how, where and when to speak or act on behalf of a client is critical. Additionally, one important perception that I am taking away from my field placement is the concept of partnership in social work. MBH exemplifies partnership through their massive network of allies and supporters, staff are able to develop sound working relationships with consumers and agencies outside Pittsburgh Mercy Health System. Partnership within MBH enables SCs and consumers to work together to achieve those agreed goals or outcomes.

In my placement I am in a locality centre which works with individuals with a variety of different needs. They work alongside the families of the individuals to ensure that they can meet all the needs if it is able to happen. On a daily basis clients are picked up from their home or meet the worker and they go on to do activities which will benefit them, which they have been choosing for themselves. Most of the clients suffer from autism in some way or have mobility issues, all of the clients require different amount of support. There is many different way of planning that I use such as drawing pictures, making lists, brainstorming, using graphic organizers. My Personal Assessment In preparation to determine what I believe are my personal strengths and weaknesses as a leader, I made a list of experiences where I believe I had to exercise leadership in the past three years. The ability to understand the different professional roles when working collaboratively is important. This is because there is a need to see how all the roles are related and how they are all vital parts of a service user journey through care. It is perceived that multi-disciplinary collaboration when it comes to service user care is linked to more positive outcomes and experiences. This could be because a greater understanding of the different professional roles allows for professionals to relate the different roles. Therefore professionals are able to inform service users of what to expect of different services used in their care pathway.
