Introduction Nursing is a profession. Besides caring patients, it also requires management and leadership skills to raise its professional standard. We have been introduced the idea of nursing leadership and management in this course. We were also assessed by doing group interview and presentation on the themes related to nursing leadership and management. The purpose of this reflective journal is to reflect the lessons we learnt during our preparation of the presentation.

Reflection is when an activity or incident requires thought about the action, and is used to determine what points are positive and negative, and how it could be improved or changed if done again in the future. The reflection process begins with thinking about an incident and how the situation can be utilised in future situations. The process consists of being open, this would involve an individual looking at things from a different perspective. In addition, the process would involve being inquisitive, desiring knowledge.
Students are given instruction on a variety of skills related to both administration and clinical aspects of medical assistance. When you're looking for a job in a nursing profession, it is important for yourself and others needing to know the differences between a CNA. A CNA is a certified nursing assistant. You also need to also know the differences between a LPN. A LPN ia a licensed practical nurse.

Leadership within the healthcare field is necessary to increase skills, organization, understanding, and control within the workplace (Huber, 2014). The leadership role tends to fall into the hands of one who is trustworthy, knowledgeable, motivating, committed, and adequately communicates to the team (Huber, 2014). With each leader comes strengths and weakness, hence, the reason why self-assessment and reflection on leadership skills are necessary. Over the course of this essay I will perform a variety of self-assessment and reflection tests in order to identify my strengths and weaknesses as a current and future nurse leader. Results
Professionalism includes standards of knowledge which is theoretical, practical and clinical. Nurses should be able to share their knowledge with colleagues, client and family enhance their skills to improve quality care and health goals. Nurses should be open-minded and have a desire to learn a new skill, not just to show off; one of the episodes, where the nurse doesn’t have any clue of how to start the IV pump clearly, explains how the media depicts nurses as unskilled professionals in their scope of practice. I feel that nurses should use legislation, standards of practice and code of ethics to practice this profession.
