As mentioned in the Mariam-Webster dictionary, parenting refers to the aspects of raising children, after giving them birth from childhood to the adulthood in the aspects of their physical, mental and social growth. Parenting is not only involving with biological parents, but also with family members such as grandparents, siblings and relatives where they practice their own cultural beliefs. Ruth Chao, from university of California, mentioned in his book, parenting in Asians, “Buddhists and Confucian influences suggest that children are like white papers and they can only be corrupted by adult world, not by their own” (Chao 4). Even when the child reaches adolescence, the parents do not give up taking care of him or her. However, Cheung mentions in his article that the American parents let go their child after they reach adolescence (Cheung). This becomes a disadvantage when raising children because they are not aware of the society and its problems to work on their own in an age like 12 or 13. Therefore, children become vulnerable because of the less knowledge about the society and its dangers. Almost all the parents do care and love their children in their own ways and they want their children to be a good person to the society. That is why they are trying to make the children practice good and ethical manners since from the childhood. As Sussana said capturing a will of a child is the best way to control them and teach them proper things. When I compared Chinese and American parents I found that being Authoritarian and involving parent has a good outcome of children. I personally believe that parents should not be leaving children till they become adults, because children cannot make good decisions without correct guidance. Always parent’s actions cause for the growth of the children and their behavior. Therefore, a good parenting can help a child to become a good person in future and the later generations also will get effected by that kind of a
