title Ameer Alsaadi Writing Studies 102 Ms. Sana Sayed 16 November 2015 Cultural practices and traditions are two of the primary elements which make up the cultural identity of a nation, and gives the people in it community a feeling of belonging and uniqueness which they identify themselves with. However, with the increasing levels of cultural interaction in the modern globalized world, many of the old traditions which characterized some if the world’s richest and oldest cultures of the world have been compromised by laws enforced by foreign parties because they are conflicting with the norms of these foreign parties. One of the recent victims of this cultural interference has been the country of China, which has been for the …show more content…
7). Based on this definition, the acts which take place during the Yulin festival are an explicit violation to these principles. The reason why the maintenance of animal rights is important for us as humans is mainly linked to moral and ethical reasons. The author Duxbury in his article highlights the relationship between the golden rule which states that "do not do unto others what you would not want them to do unto you" (n.d.a, p. 3) and animals rights. The author explains that animals, similar to humans, have the ability to feel suffering and have emotions. Thus based on the principal of the golden rule, a proper choice of action in the case of animals being subjected to torture is to assess your own behavior if subjected to the same situation. In the case of the dog meat festival, the brutality which takes places is drastic, as it is noted that around 15,000 dogs were tortured and killed in 2011. (Li, 2015). This is something that is unbearable for humans as well as for animals. Thus, the actions taking place in this festival qualify to be a direct violation of not just the welfare laws of animals, but also the moral standards which govern the actions of …show more content…
In turn, foreign countries should not interfere with these cultural practices, because they may be not aware of all the cultural elements of China and the citizens of the Guangxi Zhuang region. Even though this argument is logical, as freedom of cultural expression is one of the rights that need to be respected by other countries, it doesn’t validate the brutal actions that take place during the festival. Chinese people could find healthier and less brutal ways to indulge in dog meat consumption rather than putting animals into agony and jeopardizing their health in the
In the movie The Natural, there are many examples of Americana. The two examples that I found were Cultural Heritage, Ideals,Music, and Preserving tradition. Cultural Heritage relates to the movie because the movie is mainly about a baseball player, name Roy Hobbs, he goes to a carnival and plays a game of competitive baseball, and the Knights contractor sent Hobbs to the Knights coach after Hobbs signed the contract to play ball. Cultural Heritage and Ideals somewhat go together in this movie. Hobbs is treated badly when he first approaches the Knights coach, but he would soon show the coach that he is no longer an underdog, and he has hope for the team.
Ceremony and rituals have played a vital and essential role in Native American culture for a long time. Often referred to as “religion,” most Native Americans did not think their spirituality, ceremonies, and rituals as “religion,” the same way that Christians do. Instead, their beliefs and practices form an integral and seamless part of their being. Like other aboriginal people around the world, their beliefs were heavily influenced by their ways of getting food, – from hunting to agriculture. They also did ceremonies and rituals that gave power to conquer the difficulties of life, as wells as events and milestones, such as puberty, marriage, and death.
I believe the Late Carrie Fisher summed it up best when she said. "There is so much animal suffering in the world, and much of it, you feel helpless to end, but stopping the Yulin dog meat festival and ending all that suffering is easy. Chinese authorities need to do is declare it shut down, and the killing stops. " I would have expected a simple minded lightweight like Marc Ching to compare dog-meat eating to that of ending slavery. For Susan Abram 's and the LA Daily News to include his ignorance into their article is
Puppies are animals that are raised and loved by many people across the world. Of course, any dog owner would be sympathetic to the torturing of these puppies for gustatory pleasure. Farm animals are raised for the sole purpose of profit and value. Norcross’s argument does not have any validity, and therefore, does not contain enough evidence to support it.
I am pleading for your compassion and humanity to avail yourself in co-sponsorship of H. Res. 401 that would provide the compulsory measure to outlaw the inhumane practice against dogs and cats in all of nine countries in Asia engaging in cruel torture. As your constituent, I am haunted all but daily by the screams from the millions of animals crying for mercy of their torturers to just be allowed to die. It was a deep disappointment that the House Republican leadership and Speaker Paul Ryan did not bring H.Res. 30 to the floor for a vote.
In Jeremy Rifkin’s article, “A Change of Heart about Animals”, proves his statement that many of our fellow creatures also “feel pain, suffer and experience stress, affection, excitement and even love..”. I agree that animals share similar feelings as us, and I believe that they should be treated in a way that they can feel comfortable and care in their surroundings. Just because animals may not be completely the same as us, that should not give the right to a human to mistreat and abuse of an animal’s life. Animals can be well treated and cared for without giving them the right to be treated as a human.
He states that Fred’s pleasures do not make it morally permissible to torture puppies. This is compared to livestock in factory farms because, they undergo the same kind of torture and abuse. His conclusion is that, torturing puppies and eating meats from factory raised cattle are one in the same and is immoral. Machan addresses two different issues in his argument, animal rights, and animal liberation. Although they are fundamentally different subjects they are both contributed to animals for the same reason.
The Influence of Confucianism, Legalism, and Buddhism on Chinese Empires and Society The history of the ancient China is filled with explorations and reforms of the most suitable, effective, and adaptable state ideology for different empires and the society ruled. Up till Tang dynasty, since the early emperors themselves had little idea what would be ideal and what would not, different ideologies were endorsed in a much experimental way, among which three major ideologies played important roles in shaping the Chinese empires that advocated them and affecting the values and behaviors of the society under the rule of these empires. These three ideologies are Legalism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, and were adopted by Qin, Han, and Tang dynasty
A dog is beaten and bloody, chains wrapped around its dirty neck as it’s brutally ripped to pieces for pure amusement. Crowds cheer as the defenseless animal’s last ragged breath leaves their body painfully yet, no one will mourn for this creature. They will bath the bodies in vast amounts of blood-stained cash and drugs ultimately, giving the opponent a reward for the death it had caused. This is true dog-fighting. Death, amusement, and abuse will seem to never leave the arena where disgusting individuals.

In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, religion is the most prevalent theme in the book, with the story constantly alluding to the Bible itself. The Chinese culture, on the other hand, is accustomed to a lack of religious activity because of the popularity of philosophies (the most common one being Confucianism) which dates back to the Han Dynasty or 206BC. The second most reason for China’s religious abstinence is due to the imperialist nations whom it shared conflict with during the Opium Wars. With this background information alone, one may assume that a country such as North America or Colombia wouldn’t be similar; however, the importance of honor is shared in both Colombia and China. When compared to Colombia, China has far more aspects which contribute to honor, including education, job, real-estate and marriage.
The meat packing industry disregards animal’s emotions and their rights all together by the malicious treatment of animals. The way animals are being treated is highly unfair. Being slaughtered for their body parts and suffering just to be used for protein or an asset to humans is unbearable. An animal’s life is at equal values to a human and deserve the same rights as
Imagine a day in the life of a common farm animal. Far from the peaceful grazing life one would envision, the livestock of today endure horrific conditions - from suffering painful diseases to being separated from their mothers at too young of an age. Not only are these conditions harmful to the animals, the food produced by them is unnecessary to humanity’s well-being and can even be damaging to society’s overall health. Since the definition of ethics is having well-founded standards of right and wrong, this process of producing meat for our consumption is unethical.
These acting are a bad behavior and cruelty. The important thing is human who killed those animals. There are many positive aspects about killing animal but there are also some negative aspects. Thus this essay discusses both side of issue.
Culture is a very vast and complicated term. As a result, it is extremely difficult to provide an all encompassing definition. In layman terms, culture is used to refer to symbolic markers used by societies to differentiate and distinguish themselves from other societies. These symbolic markers range from religion to customs and traditions to something as basic as language and clothes. Basically culture is a way of living.
