The typical American classroom is becoming more diverse culturally, which warrants the need to be more educated about student differences. The educator has to be aware of students’ backgrounds, in order to help them grow as learners. Understanding different cultures ensures the ability to meet the students where they are to better educate them. Each learner is different, and it is helpful to know they best way to teach students from different races and cultures. By educating future teachers, exploring culturally diverse schools, and learning about racism and culture through museums, the teaching work force will be better equipped for educating all children, or Americans future.
Multicultural education seeks to give diverse students an equal change in school, life and contributing to build a healthy community. One of its important goals is to help all students to acquire the knowledge, attitude and skills to function in this new pluralistic and changing society. Some of the skills are know perfectly another language and other culture; this will make you different from other students when you’re looking for a job and many others aspects day to day. “Research shows that students in co-educational schools are often better prepared to succeed in post-secondary education and to enter the workforce, (Leighton).” It gives a positive self-image and helps develop the confidence of our future leaders, which students need. Students are preparing for the future and surprisingly, having both genders in the same teaching environment will actually help the students in the future. It makes them more confident when talking to the opposite sex, which students will need as they pursue their career as an adult. Students in single-sex classrooms will one day live and work side-by-side with members of the opposite sex. Educating students in single-sex schools limit their opportunity to work cooperatively and co-exist successfully with members of the opposite sex.
To help make students feel comfortable, I might have a unit on cultures. During this unit, each student will have a chance to present their culture to the class. The students will be able to bring items that represent their culture to share with the class. By doing this, the students will be able to get to know where each student comes from and what life at home may be like for these students. To help individuals like Kimberly in my classroom, I might pair the ELL student with another ELL student that shares the similar culture or language.
Groups also are the perfect environment to practice social skills building and allow children to build a social network. Another benefit of group counseling is that children learn to cope with their disabilities and the limitation that accompany it. There has also been a push within the school to integrate students with disabilities into the general population, hence it’s necessary to help them become adjusted to their environment. Adolescence is a critical time within children social lives, according to Givon and Court (2003). It is suggested that the earlier intervention will become well- adjusted and socially competent individuals.

Multicultural education discusses many methods of different learning styles and approaches to influence children that are related to different racial, gender, cultural, and linguistic capabilities. It is also a method to make sure the uppermost level of education for all students, and not creating changes opposing anything. Multicultural education helps the students and teachers to improve positive confidence through facts and knowledge that are being showed in class. Some students, because of their precise traits, have a good chance to do well in school as it is currently organized than other students from other groups. I have experience from both sides of this topic and I feel that having a co-ed school makes the groups or friendships throughout those years of school worth it. When a student goes into a co-ed environment, they experience a new outlook on life because there is some sort of new competition or thought outlook on their lives. Getting involved into a co-ed school has many benefits and they will help you greatly later in life. While I believe that having a co-ed school is more beneficial to the daily student’s life than going to a single sexed school, many others can say otherwise.
Cultural exchange programs are for connecting, enriching and empowering the global community. Cultural exchange programs expose students to people from different cultural, geographic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds and provide the opportunity for students to develop a greater understanding of diversity both in their home country and visiting country. Cultural Exchange Program allows students to interact with and learn from people who are different from themselves and to participate in new and distinctive experiences beyond their own communities. Cultural exchange helps students to develop positive relationships with others, understand a broader range of perspectives, and develop the knowledge and skills needed for participation in our multicultural society. Participating in International Cultural and Educational Exchange programmes is a life changing experience.
That is people achieve what they deserve according to their merit and hard work they do. Schools should be provided the attractive environments that help to students to socialize, they delivered not only as institutions that share certain knowledge and skills to students. Today, the focus of current debates among many educators and different institutional leaders alike has been that “socializing students” as the “aim” of education. At this point, I include three main arguments with regard to the aims of education for any given society. To assist migrant learners with the transition into a new culture, schools can recruit cultural and language diversity educators that will serve as role models to students. Schools can also ensure cultural acceptance throughout the school environment. Parents, especially mothers, are the sources of motivation for migrant learners. Schools need to ensure that they are extending resources and materials to the family unit of migrant learners. These resources should be language friendly and individualized for the migrant family.Opening the doors of the school and understanding the culture of migrant learners is a needed service that differs from mainstream learners.
