The YouTube video Cyntoia’s Story was very sad. It was horrible that a young 16-year-old girl had to experience so many bad things. It was unacceptable what Cyntoia did, and the same time, it was unacceptable what Allan did. Unfortunately, Cyntoia and Allan paid a horrible price for the crimes that they both committed. I feel that Cyntoia should have not gotten life in prison and tried as an adult because she was only 16-years-old. I feel she shot Allan because she was frighten and thought her life was in danger. The person that should be going to prison is the man that forced her into prostitute. The pimp took of advantage of Cyntoia; He is just as responsible as she is. One thing that I found shocking in the story even though Cyntoia was
Cyntoia did not seem to have a normal person's mind set or outlook on life she did not show remorse towards her crime even knowing that John was not reaching for a gun. Further into Cyntoia's case it was revealed that she did not have a true understanding of her right to remain silent and if she had known this she may not have confessed in the way that she did. With a lawyer there to advise her in her confession i do not believe that cyntoia's case would have been perceived the way it was. This case has recently went viral on social media when artist Rihanna tweeted about Cyntoia's case nearly ten years after she was convicted. Many A-list celebrities have been protesting for her release and petitions have been started for her sentence to be cut short and let Cyntoia free.
Imagine being the “chosen one” on a kill list made by your friends. One of the many teen cases in juvenile justice was the disgraceful murder of a 16 year old student, Cassie Stoddart, murdered by her two friends, Torey Adamcik and Brian Draper on September 22, 2006. Both Torey and Brian were found guilty of First Degree Murder, charged as adults, and given life in prison with no possibility of parole plus 30 years for committing. I believe their punishment is deemed fair and right. Background on victim Cassie Stoddart was a bright, young, responsible, and popular student; She was always told she had the perfect life, perfect grades, and was always praised by many in her community.
Editor Anna Quindlen wrote many articles and essays conveying her opinion toward the death penalty. Such as, “Death Penalty Fails to Equal Retribution” and “Public & Private; The High Cost of Death”. Although Anna Quindlen makes many valuable accusations regarding her reasoning to being opposed to the death penalty, she undermines the real purpose of the penalty itself. The Death penalty, is indeed necessary. Many of the accusations Anna proclaims permit to the emotions of the victims families that have been robbed of their loved one by the said killer.
After pain, grief, sorrow, desolation, misery, depression, over her daughter’s death, mother search down deep in her soul to find a way to forgive. Some teens like to show off shoes, clothes, maybe even money but in this case Jordyn Howe just wanted to show off his step-dad gun on the bus. It could have been anybody, just sitting on the bus as an innocent bystander, but the gun just happens to be pointing at Lourdes Guzman-DeJesus unnoticeable. November 20 of 2012 is the date that Lourdes Guzman-DeJesus passed away. What makes this story rare is that the murder is actually innocent.
Cortazar uses foreshadowing within Cyclades to create a tense atmosphere that contributes to the themes obsession and primal nature. Morand is reflecting on the relationship between Somoza and Teresa when he says “it was the first time in almost two years that Morand had heard him mention Teresa, as if until that moment she had been somehow dead to him.” (Cortazar 34) The use of the word “dead” foreshadows the eventual demise of Somoza and the implied sacrifice of Teresa. Morand automatically thinks of death when Somoza mentions Teresa, instead of any other way to describe Somoza’s acknowledgement of Teresa.
As a result, Anzaldua is able to emphasize the importance of simple objects such as; language, food, and music to an individual's culture. She asserts “ Yet I couldn't stop my feet from thumping to the music, could not stop humming the words,” the words “could not” are repeated each time to create emotion that shows she will not be oppressed and she will continue to rebel against the oppression (42). This is also used to speed the pace and rhythm of the phrase to increase the anger and passion she has towards people who want to assimilate her society to be like everyone else. Anzaldua is then able to stack alliteration with an image for the audience by asserting “ who we were, what we were, how we evolved. We ban to get a glimpse of what
In the excerpt titled "X: A Fabulous Child’s Story," Lois Gould describes this very important Secret Scientific Xperiment, also known as Project Baby X. In this reading, the social construction of gender is society assigning a gender identity correlated with their genitalia. Nobody could identify Baby X and so they didn’t know how to treat it. Carl-Lee Hailey is on trial for the murder of the two rapists who raped his daughter Tonya Hailey who was only 10 years of age. There is no doubt that Carl-Lee Hailey did shoot the two rapists and I believe that he should be convicted. His ten year old daughter Tonya was viciously brutalized by two white men Pete and Billy Ray. They abducted , raped and beat Tonya.
How can a person be arrogant and insecure at the same time? In Edmund Rostand’s comedic tragedy, Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano is a tragic hero based on the characteristics of having a tragic flaw, a result of his downfall, and him coming to self-knowledge by the end of the play. From the beginning Oedipus was destined to fulfill a terrible prophecy, but through particular events that follow the steps of the Hero’s Journey, Oedipus becomes a powerful king of Thebes, only to be destroyed by the prophecy that should have ended his life as a child. The Hero’s Journey typically leads to self-confidence and power, however; the Hero’s Journey of Oedipus leads to his tragic demise. The Hero’s Journey lays out the steps of Oedipus’s future actions, which create suspense, fear, pity, and other emotions that captivates the audience. Similar to many famous stories, Oedipus the King, written by Sophocles in 430 B.C., follows the Hero’s Journey path, which is evident in Oedipus’s departure, initiation, and return.
The Life of Marius, written by Plutarch, is a fascinating ancient source detailing the career of the Roman Gaius Marius, 127-86BC. While there are interpretive and reliability issues, the Life of Marius is a particularly useful and significant source. It is our only extensive primary source on Marius, who was a key political figure of late Republican Rome. Additionally, Plutarch’s work indicates not only many crucial military and political development in Rome in the time period, but also gives a reflection of Plutarch’s own Rome and its values and political climate.
I would have never expected to read something even remotely similar to the events explained in this rollercoaster of an article, but not surprised, which saddens me to say. I will never understand how someone, much less a teenager, can commit such a felony without remorse. I pray for the families who are being forced back into the media as past occurrences are once again brought into the light and hope that they will soon find

Question Discuss Toolan’s view that storytelling is a ‘core human activity’ which is directly connected to the ‘making and remaking of our identity and our relationships’ (2006, p. 76 & p. 54). Storytelling is a core human activity related to identity and relationships Para 1 Discussion of the nature and importance of spoken narrative in general. Every day, we speak and communicate with others through the act of telling story. Toolan (2006) says narrative or story is a ‘core’ structuring form, found in major literary genres, such as novels and short stories, folk tales, fairy tales and epics, as well as in other art forms, both verbal and non-verbal, such as pictures and film, ballet and mime, etc.
