The rock cycle is extremely helpful and useful for scientists all over the world. These scientists use physical geology, which carefully focuses on how rocks form into other rocks (Doc. 2). Also, through the rock cycle, three types of rocks form, which are called igneous rock, sedimentary rock, and metamorphic rock (Doc. 1). The rock cycle is much like the water cycle, but it takes millions of years for a rock to form, wear down, and form again. Also, scientists need the rock cycle to watch how the rocks form overtime (OI). The scientists take careful looks at the rocks to study things like texture, composition, and where the rock came from (OI). That helps them figure out what type of rock it is and what it is useful for. That is why the
Since they don’t have the living people from the past here in the future. They have to piece together what they know about the past societies by their findings. They have to piece together what they find to know what they did on an everyday basis, what they ate and much more. When excavating a site
Geology is important to scientists because it is the history of this Earth and what’s on the Earth (OI) . Also the rock cycle is important to scientists (Doc 2.) . On the rock cycle the order is sedimentary rock, metamorphic rock, and igneous rock, therefore, These three rocks are the rocks that other rocks are classified into. This tells what order the rock cycle

Why study the past? Paleontology Paleontology is the study of what fossils tell us about the ecologies of the past, about evolution, and about our place, as humans, in the world. Paleontology incorporates knowledge from various fields, even computer science, to understand the processes that have led to the origination and eventual destruction of the different types of organisms. Paleontology is essential for working out the history of the earth. Another application of paleontology is the use of fossils in the oil industry to determine the age of the rocks encountered in drill cores, which is vital to determining where the oil, if any, might be.
During 3100 B.C the first stone monument was built that was soon become the stonehenge. This construction was one and a half miles long by 150 yards wide that was an east-west alignment. The people who started building it first was called the Windmill Hills, originated from Eastern England they were one of the first groups with an agricultural economy. They had started out with the large circular rings and furrows. Keeping burials in stone encased tombs they buried them east-west of the stonehenge.
Rocks of Ages by Stephen Jay Gould argued a concept called NOMA, which stands for Non-Overlapping Magisteria which is a philosophy of non-interference in certain domains of thought and inquiry, and in this specific book, Gould uses the idea of NOMA to argue for the separation of religion and science. His arguments revolved around three main topics: Defining NOMA, the history of science versus religion, and the psychology behind the rejection of NOMA. Although he touches almost every base for every question I could think of, I did not see the book as an easy read--the points seemed scattered and I couldn’t keep up with his thought process and its relation to his thesis. When one boils it down to whether or not his idea would work, the answer would have to be yes, but under unobtainable conditions, in my opinion.
After reading the short story,“The RockPile”, by James Baldwin, it is found that a religious family lives in Harlem, and the father of the family enforces unfair penalties on his son John. The short story opens with a brief description of the forbidden rock pile down the street. In fact, each Saturday morning, Roy and John perch themselves on the fire escape and watch the violent actions below them at the rock pile. Although Roy knows better than to go down to the rockpile, he decides to go.
1. It does not appear there were many internal controls at the country club prior to the discovery of Fancy Rockbottom’s embezzlement. Some of them include: o The Board of Directors having broad powers to borrow money and enter into contracts as necessary. While it is important for the Board to be able to conduct business on behalf of the country club’s members, there should be mechanisms in place to have oversight before the Board enters into large financial agreements which have the potential to expose the members to liability as well. o
Stonehenge, a gargantuan stone group of stone circles, quarried hundreds of miles away. It just happens to be set on the path of the sun and an unnerving amount of dead people. For thousands of years, people have wondered why it was built. A discovery of small circular rocks, all the same size, around Stonehenge may help us figure out how those ton sized blocks of rock got there. The fallen portions of Stonehenge and modern technology may lead us to the last question we ask, the building and lifting of stonehenge.
Chorley said “Whenever anyone mentions theory to a geomorphologist, he instinctively reaches for his soil auger” (R.J Chorley 1978). Physical geographers are viewed as always being out in the field doing their own research and not sitting
There are many things Scientists’ do to figure out what is inside Earth’s layers, two ways scientists’ use to find what is inside Earth’s layers are studying meteorites and using direct observation. When studying meteorites Scientists’ use what the meteorites are made of to figure out what Earth’s layers are made of. Meteorites are all made of different materials that tell Scientists’ what’s inside Earth’s layers. Some meteorites are stony and are “rich in olivine and pyroxene.”
On the Rocks The night I knew that things would never be the same between me and my mother was the night I moved to Bangor. It was a frigid winter night. I had just returned from my basketball game arriving home around 12am to see all the lights on in the house. Walking in I was met by pungent odor of coffee brandy and the droning of a steady bassline. Stumbling through pools of mixed drinks my mother and her boyfriend made their way out of the kitchen.
Hi My name is Haley and I have decided to share the story of my life. I have to include my best friend Brooke because we have been together since the beginning. I think I will call my story The Rock Cycle because my friend Brooke and I are both rocks. My life began inside the Mantle. Brooke and I were a melted rock called Magma.
They base their findings on and scientific data and trials to acquire the knowledge, thus they use the logical reason as a way of knowing. It can be argued the logical reason plays important role in the process of knowledge, which must be less biased, acquisition in the natural science. Therefore, natural scientists are objective, meaning the decisions are based on facts or results and not colored by the paradigm. They tend to ask neutral question because their findings are based on logical reasoning and not involved any
Weathering can occur in both physical and chemical processes, exfoliation is an example of physical weathering; this is when rock heats up and expands during the day and cools and contracts during the much cooler night. As this process continues, the rock starts to break from the inside and peels off. This process takes places in areas where there is high diurnal temperature variation such as the Sahara desert and parts of the Mediterranean close to it. Plants and burrowing animals also contribute to weather rock, this is know as biological weathering; this is when the plant roots forced cracks in the rock to widen and eventually break into pieces or when animals expose the rock to further weathering (Waugh, 2009; A. Vella, personal communication, March 5, 2017). Plate tectonics have also played a part in the evolution of the Mediterranean.
