This is the business objective of the company called DOS & Associates. It is a global, huge company with big experience and the offices in more than 45 locations worldwide. But how is it possible to earn profit and also provide your employees with fun and joy during the working hours? There are no defined job titles and strictly structured working description — as soon as work is fulfilled on time and efficiently, employees are free to choose the way they want to accomplish it. The whole system makes big accent on forming the natural leaders, that are chosen by employees, not by governing body of DOS & Assosiates — “because of personal influence, not power”, as it is shown in the case study. The lack of the titles makes the atmosphere in the company more family-alike and leads to the warm and convenient relations. There are also no set working hours — this gives the members the right to choose the most appropriate lifestyle for them and helps to balance it. All those factors have shown me that this is the perfect example of Neo-Human Relations Approach, where employees are not locked in the limits and frameworks of strict policies of Classical Approach; they are free to find their own ways and who knows, probably, this company would not be so efficient, if they would give their members other working …show more content…
According to the laws of the country, women are not allowed to have a higher position, than men. This inequality in the countries, where females psychologically and socially are lower, won’t let them to act successfully as a natural leader, because of the common laws and prejudice, that will become a barrier itself, despite the probability of overcoming men-colleagues in leadership skills and experiences. Moreover, women are not allowed to leave their houses late in the evening; all females, regardless of ages, are obliged to have a male guardian. It is the masculine ideals and norms that are privileged over others in society. The participant also noted that if she wanted to be in leadership position it would be a challenge considering that the higher up in rank you go in any career there will be more males. To lead as female and a woman, would require a change in the way you behave and speak but at the same, “you have to cater to people around you, you can’t be threatening cause you’re a woman or you’ll be seen as bossy and overbearing,” said participant four. This communication barrier is the kind that is described in the Tannen excerpt, “[W]orkplaces that have had men in positions of power have already established male-style interactions as the norm.”
1) Identify aspects of Jim Quintero’s management style according to the four main management theories (Classical, Behavioral, Systems, and Contingency). While most organizations can more than likely identify at least some aspects from each of the four management theories, Quintero’s steel company identifies most with the Behavioral Approach with aspects of the Systems and Contingency Approach blending together in my opinion. Not having much detail on Cool Steel Company’s (CSC) organizational structural it is difficult to determine how much management falls under the Classical Approach, but seeing there are managers (not first-level supervisors) and reviewing Henri Fayol’s general principals, one can assume a structure of sorts. There are several examples of the Behavioral Approach (e.g., trusting, respect, responsibility…) that will be covered in more detail in response to question number two. It is clear that CSC’s success would be in line with the practices described in the cooperative system outlined in the Systems Approach and by virtue of employees being given the ability or responsibility to make decisions; the Contingency Approach can be applied.
As women, centuries ago, they have always been expected to do a certain things throughout their lives, such as being around their children the majority of the time or maybe just maintain the house. For all this time, society established a sort of misplaced control over their lives. Recently, however, this has changed; a new generation of society was born which started to accept women for who they are. Many women fought for their rights as well as a change of living for not just themselves but for everyone. Now, as a new dawn breaks, women can be seen in the seats of power and responsibility which they were wrongfully denied for generations.
