When you entered this amazing, but the beautiful dance studio on 4th Avenue, Downtown in New York City(2014), there were these gentlemen ready to greet you, and we asked him if we could take a tour, around his beautiful astonishment of this dance studio, he replied,” Why, yes, just follow me right this way.” As, we toured around, we went into the first room, the dancers were doing “pointe,” they were wearing these white leotards with pink tights and they also their hair in a tight “ballerina,” bun. I told myself, “ I wish I could be like them, they are so beautiful.” I told my family, I want to be just like them.” As we were following the gentleman on his tour, I saw this audition paper and took a picture of it on my iPhone 6s. As we finished the tour, they had this restaurant, and I saw some of the dancers, so I asked the tour guide,” Can, I go talk to some of the dancers,” He replied, Of course.” So, I went to go talk to the dancers, as we sat down in this amazing and huge restaurant with red walls and wood flooring, they also had crystal tables with these red
When the second quarter ended, they waited while technicians set up the stage and sound props. This soon ended and Cassi and the other performers stepped onto the field in front of thousands. Cassi’s nerves switched into excitement as she looked at the crowd. It was sunny and beautiful and she loved to perform. This kind of performance, dancing, was what she was good at.
Little did I know then that the teachers are always looking for three things; technique, confidence, and artistry. The audition was for Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory. The class was being held at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. Being my paranoid self, I was there two hours early.
To a lot of people, mostly boys’ cheerleading isn’t considered a sport. But did you know that cheerleading was originally meant for boys? I bet you didn’t, the first cheerleader’s name was Johnny Campbell; he decided that one day that he wanted to lead chants at the University of Minnesota’s football game. He then created a whole team that would help him lead the crowd at different University of Minnesota sports games. Then, on November 2, 1898, Johnny Campbell was recognized to be the world’s first official cheerleader.
We had stayed at the party for two hours before it was time to go. The party had taken place at a house near the stadium, so it was a quick walk over there. Once we arrived, we suffered through pictures and waited to get in. When we finally got inside, we walked over to the infinite amount of escalators we would have to ride
Her style is very descriptive and is not aimed directly for just dancers to read her book. By explaining different ballet terms, describing the scene, and discussing a ballerina’s struggles Flack’s book shows that girls will do a lot of things to become the best in the
“They were burdened with sashweights and bags of birdshot, and their faces were masked, so that no one, seeing a free and graceful gesture or a pretty face, would feel like something the cat drug in” (Vonnegut para. 10). Here it expresses the extremes that society has implemented in the attempt to make everyone the same. The ballerinas are burdened with weights and physical deformities to force them into normality. They are no longer able to express their creativity through dance or to stand out from the crowd. They are reduced to a level far below themselves, and their individuality is
“[My dance instructor] Cindy believed that ballet was richer when it embraced diverse shapes and cultures. There would be times in my career when I would struggle to remember that, but I would eventually come back to that conviction, that the stage on which I performed was brighter for having me, even if some in the audience or dancing beside didn 't always agree” (“Misty Copeland

Mambo Girl (1957), a movie musical, follows Kailing, a talented young woman widely admired for her singing and dancing capabilities, as she searches for acceptance after learning the truth about her background. Shall We Dansu? (1996) follows Mr. Sugiyama, a Japanese accountant who goes on a secretive and intimate journey into the world of ballroom dance. Both Mambo Girl and Shall We Dansu? emphasize the close relationship between intimacy and Latin dance by linking Kailing and Mr. Sugiyama’s manners of dancing Latin to the emotional connection each has with other characters.
“What is going on in these pictures in my mind?” (Didion 2). Joan Didion’s “Why I Write” provides an explanation to her perspective om writing and why she writes. Later on, she states that she writes as a way to discover the meaning behind what she is seeing. During this past semester as we wrote about dance, a heavy focus was on description and interpretation rather than contextualization and evaluation.
The general stereotype of a ballerina falls far from the typical male persona, and thus society disapproves of males partaking in a female activity. This female dominated profession limits a person’s

Furthermore, the action portion of the basic dance elements was seen through the dancer’s basic movements that turned into dancing. I positively believe women's freestyle figure skating is the best Winter Olympic sport ever to be played. Reasons why this is obviously true are: When you practice for figure skating you benefit from plenty of other exercises, such as flexibility and speed. While enjoying a fun and positive practice you can build your balance, along with boosting your self confidence to help with all your glides, twirls, and turns. All your stress you get from pressure can be lost as you glide across the ice unlike a more intense game such as hockey: where you have to keep track of the puck and other players while trying to be efficient. Consequently when you gracefully glide across the ring, you will be reminded of all the amazing figure skating athletes
